Went to log in, says it can't open lobby, tried to go in the back door, and it took me to the page where you download the gameing zone software and does nothing.

Anyone else?

Yes, they could make it so much simpler to log into this freaking game, all the Zone software sucks and needs to go.

My Patron and I cannot log in now , even though I have played all morning.

Says ' you do not have the necessary software blah blah '

yes I am as well.

I deleted the heartbeat class object in IE, and now it gets downloaded coruptly. That is if I do not get a script error in IE on that page first....

It's always good to know one is not alone is his or her misery. We have unsinstalled and have ran into much MORE and FUN trouble, than just waiting around for an unecessary extra programming to be fixed. . that was working fine an hour ago.

Here is the server status page, and they all 'say' they are up, but I have a feeling those are the ones who never log out.

yep same prob here guys to i think its everybody that is not currently logged in that is stuck out :) if your logged in dont log out!

Yes I can't get in either on my account. My son can't get in on his. My husband's account (running a tradebot) is fine, since it never logged out. This is definitely some weird zone issue.

It's been said many a times Turbine GET RID OF THE ZONE! No more monthly patches, no more new content, GET RID OF THE ZONE!

I seem to have the same issue. Did You all install a Microsoft patch today? Specifically the kb870669 ADODB patch? Everything seemed OK this morning until I installed the patch...maybe it's just a coincidence, but a very peculiar one.

Microsoft is aware of the current Zone issues and is working on them, please see the sticky thread for further updates.

Turbine is working very hard on the coming migration off of Zone login and billing to our own proprietary system.

problem is an activx component called heartbeat.cab.

You need to set all activx setting to active in your internet explorer. when installed set back to your previous settings.

and I'd like to confirm that romside's suggestion does indeed work - if I enable all ActiveX settings under Internet Security (Go to Tools if you use IE and look for Internet Options, then Security, hit Custom and check all the "enable" boxes for ActiveX). Don't forget to return them to their normal settings later though!

I am running Win XP and AOL, changed all my active X settings to enable and still no go!!??

a friend of mine is also reporting that she cannot get it to work, despite having enabled all her activex components. She also updated directx and IE themselves.

Did you press 'reset' after selecting 'low' under custom lvl?

if not you should have otherwise the change will not stick...

i had the acitvex secutiry browser message everytime also
until i did the above.

Have been there, done that to make the settings sticky. They are all set that way as we speak. (have checked it at least 4 times!)

The part that I don't get is that it is not possible to uninstall or delete MSN Game zone or any of its components from my Win XP computer. Go figure!!!

I spent over 6 hours fooling around with this today and over 2 of that was making long distance toll (not toll free!) phone calls to:

Turbine tech
Microsoft tech
MSN tech
MSN Game Zone tech (never got through as the phone # was changed)
MSN tech (had no clue for a new #)
Turbine tech (again)
Turbine tech (a 3rd time, but hung up after 20 min. on hold)

Each referred me to the next, and next, and next......

Turbine on-line email tech gave it the best shot, their ideas didn't amount to anything either, but hey, they gave it a good go!

Still on hold waiting for one of the various techies to come up with a silver bullet!!!! :D :mad: :confused:

We had to reinstall and patch up THREE TIMES! Which took most of the day, I also have to power cycle my modem and router. . works fine, or WORKED fine last night, I have yet to try to log in today though . . . .

I love it when I click the AC icon to log in, click play, get routed to Turbines page with Aseron's Call, the 6 other online games they host, and the 5 million card games and BEEP that I have never even clicked on ( does anyone bother with playing hearts when they are an avid AC player? , that just doesn't seem to fit.)

The best part is after I click Asheron's Call, I am forced to look at the cheesy banner advertising some BS, before I can get routed to the log-in page. I love that, it's not like I get enough pop-ups about how to enlarge myself and other stuff when surfing the web, I get to pay for AC and have to look at a full page banner and click the-'OK I am done looking at this banner now, I just want to play AC' - button before I can play.

Now, back to AC

I took ya'lls advice and deleted my cookies and internet temp files then I did what turbine tech last suggested which was to attempt to log on thru internet explorer instead of AOL.

I GOT IN!!!!!!

Since I wasn't systematic I don't know what actually allowed me to log-in but I was able to get there!

BUT!!!!! I find now that the only way I can get in is with that spyware ridden POS, internet explorer, if I try to get in thru AOL I get the failed to load zone message. :confused:


Hope this helps someone out there.........

LOL I can't help it!!!! I've had the email address for nearly 10 years and I'd hate to think, or even attempt to think, of everything that is tied to it!!!!!!

AND~~~ truth be known, I've had very little problems outa AOL, in fact on 4 seperate computers on 4 different occasions I spent over an hour each time trying to get the durn comp to recognize a modem before I remember my secret of asking AOL to find it, which it always has in less than a minute........

But, I still take a lot of abuse from anyone I have to give my email address to!!!! :D

^^^ This is the "Supposed" fix which is doing us in.

And no one will admit it's a problem!!!

I didn't have any problems till this happened.

Now, how is it, all other 'fixes' went in smooth as silk, but this one requires some one with more tech savvy then the Zone techs to get it to work?

This is not good customer Support at all.

Admit to the screw up and Fix the gosh darn thing Properly.

I had the ActiveX problem a couple of days ago, that was an easy one to fix. Well, it took about 30 minutes.

Wondering if I will be able to get in again. No matter, I like trying to get in, it is a challenge. Now, where did I put that hammer?

BTW, it is getting to the Install page, shows the Spade, then seemingly does nothing.

Well quite frankly I don't like paying 12.95 a month for
something I can't play and I have been sitting here twiddling my thumbs for 2 days now of not being able to get in..

That statement goes for many people im sure.

The money that they make can easily solve this problem.....

One of two things

They aren't working on it hard enough or two they just don't care.


Is turbine going to offer some kind of credit for the days that we cannot use your service?

Just like any other service ( Phone, or Cable )

When those go out for a few days you get a credit on your next months bill.

This game is enjoyment and a relaxing thing for me and when this kind of thing happens it sure isn't relaxing or any kind of enjoyment. It turns to anger and rage........................

No DL page redirection at all.

Just happened to me

I get to the list of servers, AC friends launches itself and logs on, but if I click Harvestgain I get

"Failed to establish connection with zone server"

Same with TD

I have no problems with any of the other servers.

Edit: Phew - followed the instructions of darkselma's at http://vnboards.ign.com/Harvestgain/b5154/73131359/?4 ..... she says

Had the same problem until I hit:

clicked "Website" and went through the no chat rooms

This makes a total of 3 days, This is absolute "NONSENSE!"

I can't believe something like this is such a darn problem.

Still get there and it says I still don't have the software for zone.


That's 3 days i could have played and gained about 4 levels.


You know what's the funniest part of all this?

Well, something's up.

Logged in this morning to a world message that stated, "Please log, as the Asheron's Call servers will be being brought down in 1 minute."

I don't recall seeing a date for Patch day, so............ Maybe it's the fix for you and any other experiencing problems.

I think there's far too many on here who need to chill a little. Maybe read a book, take a walk, do something other than play ac, because ya'll are just too wound up.
Now for that comment, if anyone flames me it'll just prove my point. Ya'll are just too wound up and some, I won't mention who, act like junkies unable to get a fix. There's more to life than ac you know.

I haven't been doing anything with my comp for the past week except to turn it on and try to log on once a day. Welll folks, MSN just decided to let me download their files. I'm back in using my own computer now. I hope it works out for everyone. Later all and see you in game.
