View Full Version : With more skill credits, will all very high level mages train melee D?

Right now, most level 126 mages have either spec magic D, or trained melee D. With more skill credits, most mages will take both.
Similarly, melees and archers tend to have similar templates, with some taking missile D and some speccing life at 126. With more credits, they'd choose both.
Diversity is a good thing. Perhaps some sort of "double-speccing" would be interesting. Of course the term itself terrifies me, so perhaps that's not such a good idea... In any case, more ways for mains (not mules) to spend skill credits would be a good thing.

Interesting. Not sure what to think yet.
When they raised the spec cap to 64, I was sure that every mage would end tri-spec. While a huge amount of mages have this in their 100s, it's not the best template after 150. There is much more diversity than I thought there would be at high level, with things that were considered alien like creature/magic-d, with trained melee.
We ended up with a more varied set of template because other game characteristics evolved. Magic-defense was a PK-only thing before Caul. Melee defense was hardly chosen before defender on wands. Creature was completely useless before high-health monsters that last long enough to bother debuffing. Etc.
So while I also fear that too many skill credits will end up with little variety, I'm certainly hoping that new content will open fields to more exotic templates.

Well, I have a CLaW mage (+ missile + arcane).
Assuming I can get at least 2 more skill credits, I'll be training meleed as soon as I can max out Creature (i'll drop it to trained, and leave it maxed)

i read Paraduck's post about what the Turbine said at Turbine Nation convention.
"They (devs) tossing the idea about how to earn credit point after 125th lvl", it was suggessed to throw in 10 lvl per credit and later advancement to be increased to 20 lvl per credit?
Whoa! Whoa! wait up Devs!!!
i dont see how those folks have post 126th lvl via-treestat program are able to spend xp if their skills and attributions already maxed out or getting closer, then have tons of unassigned xp with no where to spend by waiting 10 lvl or 20 lvl just to get 1 point of credit?
Do you realized how much xp they have and no place to have home beside getting that "Storage Gem" aka Aggementation Gem? (pls excuse my spelling) and had to wait 80 levels to have 8 point of credit.
wow! 80 levels?! that is about (guessing about 40-50 billion xp) no where to spend if they hit over 200 lvl.
my numbers may not be accurate but just a figure of number base on guessing.
would be nice if someone came up with real calculations on leveling curve and how long or how many levels to get one new skill spending the credit.
by the time those folk buy new skill with credit and then that skill just instantly max out in just less then a hour clicking on green triangle icon. LOL!!! talk about carpal tunnel.

Can very high 3-school melees train War Magic?
You have to train a lot more skills to get to 275 if they are not raising attribute or skill caps.

It takes the average character to reach lvl 210-220 to have maxed almost everything. Those people will not be wasting xp as they wait for that last skill credit. They will either save up 4.2billion or spend the xp into other skills.
