I just recently hit 126 after 4 years. I think a level cap is bad for the game. Does anyone else remember when you were a newbie and saw a level 70 and said WOW? Now, that doesn't happen because everyone is 126. Plus, all sub 126s seem to think that they are gonna lose out because they aren't 126 yet. This is NOT the case. Turbine in the past has added quests and hunting grounds for ALL level ranges, and it will continue to be the same for the future.

I agree with you 100%. I pray to God that Turbine does not let these whiny crybabies ruin this for the rest of us.

Vlaid, it took you 4 years to make 126. It took me 4 years to make my level 171 and that was with 4000+ very loyal vassals passing up xps the old way, I never chained nor macroed.
Ok... picture this. I would have to level to 171 seven and l/2 times to be that 260. Ok, let's do some math. 4 years x 7 l/2 = 28.5 years to be that 260. Still think that 275 is not too high a cap to appeal to someone new starting the game?
It only appeals to UCM's.

No one is going to hit 275.
From what I understand, you will have approximately the same level as treestats shows now.
The only difference is that instead of showing 126 when someone assesses you, you will show the level that treestats shows you at outside of game.
That means I will still show up at 238 with no chance of ever hitting 275 as I am maxed with my current skill choices.
The only way I could go theoretically higher is if Turbine introduced additional skill points which I understand may or may not happen and even if it does, I imagine we are not going to be looking at anything game breaking. I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 every 20 or 25 levels. IE 150,175,200,225,250
Most templates won't hit 250, so they are looking at an additional 4 credits which doesn't do the normal specialized template very much good at all to my knowledge.

I totally agree. Hey! Guess what. You know how affected I am by Macroers? NADA!
I cannot understand how people are whining that there are people who macro who will receive benefits because they macro. Really. Who cares? Level playing field? I didn't realize people played this game to be on top of AC STATS.
I play it to have fun. I couldn't give a flying squirrel if there are level 200 dungeons. Dont matter to me. I'm too busy in my level 50 dungeon.
The past 4 years its an endless stream of Turbine nerfed this. Mages are Nerfed. Sword is Nerfed. Dagger is Nerfed. Blah blah blah blah blah. All that is nerfed is what was given to you on a silver platter. Work to be better. Adapt. If you complain that a mage takes your kills or a sword takes your kills or an archer takes your kills well, guess what? You suck. It's your skills at playing a mage or a sword or an archer that prohibits you. I've seen AXE guys pk mages. It depends on your skill. You keep getting smoked by a mage and don't understand why he keeps beating you but you do NOTHING to change then you deseve to get beat like the gimp you are.
No company does what Turbine does. NOBODY. Asheron's call is the best MMORPG ever. Quit whining and moaning and think about what these guys offer us?
It's like a bartender having to listen to drunks all day whine and moan about the beer yet they still sit there all day drinking it because sometime, somewhere, something happened while drinking this beer that opened their eyes to how great this almighty beer is.
It's all about the beer baby!

Abdul, I think that it will be more than possible to hit 275 with augmentation gems to spend your unassigned exp on. It may just take a while.

Fearless, how will you feel when they take your "level 50" dungeon and upgrade it for higher levels? They have done this with many dungeons and quests now. Don't ever think that having 1-275 is not going to effect you or the game.

rofl Yinishi, the only dungeons that they have updated like that have been ones that NOBODY VISITED. You are not giving any credit to turbine at all. In the past they have added content for ALL LEVEL RANGES. I don't even know why you are so bitter about the news of this expansion. You are acting like its the worse thing to ever come. If you don't like it, then you don't have to buy it.

I'll go to another dungeon. There is so much in Dereth. Beer.

Vlaid, I love AC, I have played since beta. But the game will die without new blood. Yes, they can cater to the "Elders" but as those elders leave, we will have a dying game. I am an "Elder" and a high level. But being a high level becomes boring, you have everything you need, all your armor and weapons are uber. Shortly, after the expansion pack is out, you will have tried all the new quests for high levels.
I never care about "me", it is the game I am concerned with. We need to encourage people to try AC, we need to encourage people to reroll by making it enticing to do so. I see nothing in the expansion pack that would induce new people to try it. Certainly not raising the cap beyond anyone obtaining it. People need a goal, they will know they can't achieve the goal of 275.

I somewhat agree, however there are real problems with UCM's and PvP.

Seriously man, amen. I wish every single one of these whining weenies would just shut it and get back in game and play it. It almost seems like some wierd variety of masochism, they hate this game yet the play it out of some sick desire for self torture.

As a former bartender, I can state that a bartender has some more power than the Dev's have here. For one, what you are serving is what everyone in the building wants, thus you have power. If they are not cool, they do not get what they want. The other power is, if they whine and complain too much, you 86 their ***** and that's the end of it.

^ thats so true no one wil lever be happy its like what do you want turbine to do? they are trying their hardest to make every one happy they cant always put every idea in game because some ideas are to lame to be put in. Even if they try to make people happy people no matter what the item is no matter what quest it is i know for a fact some one will post
"Good job for helping higher levels!"
"good job for helping macroing whores!"
"Good job for giving chains what they want!"
well whats turbine going to do? do server wipes? yeah ok. Theres a simple solution for people who cry to much quit. Why play if you are never happy seriously lol.

I think it is so funny that tons of people signed a petition to get an expansion pack and wanted one so bad now Turbine is putting one out and doing their best to give us a good expansion.
It amazes me how much whining and crying is going on by so many people. Does everyone beleive they actually told us everything that will be in the expansion? I am sure there are tons of stuff they aren't even telling us about.
So instead of everyone having their panties in a bunch for the next 4-6 months until the expansion is released, sit back, play the game the way you enjoy it and have fun!
Some people are just never happy....I feel sorry for them.

I like the new level cap too. I think people are losing sight of what this game used to be. I remember a game when I ran around and saw people who were unimaginably powerful. I never expected to be as powerful as these people because I didn't have many vassals. My point is, the purpose of an MMORPG can be anything you choose, and it seems most people choose their purpose to be hitting the cap, whatever that may be. I used to believe that was the goal, but I recently got burned out on games like DAOC and FFXI. Hitting the cap just isn't fun for me.
I like the new level cap because for me, AC is a world ot run around in and experience. I level up while I'm doing that, and sometimes I want to do something that is too high lvl for me, so I hit the dungeons for a while. I will never get level 275. I am not even going to try. It doesn't bother me one bit either. I think Turbine is providing us the option to continue our adventures in Dereth and have something to show for it. They don't expect you to grind it out for another 2 years and get the cap asap.

Except for the complaint about how it will affect reswearing, for which one person had a very good idea and if you have been reading these threads you know who I'm talking about, I see no real problem.
The main complaint I've seen, other then the one I mentioned above,is :
Its going to take me 10, 20, 30 years to hit the new cap.
Ok ... um ... how is that a problem exactly.
Two things here,
Either your going to play that long,
Or your not.
If your not why should you care about what the rest of us do with our time.
If you are thats 10, 20, 30 more years of AC fun.
Something that may not have occurred to some folks, that might be the point.
Nowadays even a casual 10 hours (less than that well they probably wouldnt hit 126 for a couple years anyway) a week hunter (1 - 2 hours a night and 0 - 5 hours on Saturday(or Sunday or both)) in a small fellow(10 million an hour) in a low end location (were not talking Caul or VoD here) can hit 126 in 9 months.
So this person would have 6 126s in 4.5 years.
After that what do they do?
Reroll, which means eraser of at least one 126. With some of folks and thier attachments to their chars that probably is not an option.
Whats left?
Maxxing out skills?
Ok, in that case what does it matter what level you are if thats what you intended?
Which brings us back to 10, 20 ,30 years of play.
Could it be Turbine wants to keep folks playing there game for more than 4.5 years?
If folks don't go about maxxing out skills after reaching 126?
Buy a new account and start again? Mabey
But, more likely they will move on to another game as they have already "beat" AC.
So mabey, just mabey, Turbine would rather folks stay in thier game.
And as far as the rule breakers,
Either your here for fun or your not.
If your concerned someone is higher on the list than you, then fun is not why you are here.
Because someone that has 20 to 30 hours a week will always be higher level then someone with 10 or less and since Turbine has tightened security I doubt folks are going to spend 3 to 4 years UCMing in an atmosphere where Turbine and Players are against them ..... a week to 126 mabey ... 3 to 4 years to max cap .... I doubt it. ;)
Thats reality, deal with it.

Seriously....you say there is nothing to do after 126? Try this. See, we all have slots on EVERY server, and each server is full of new people to meet and new things to do and new adventures to be had. Maxed out on Morningthaw? Make a new toon on Thistledown. Oh you have one there already? Try Harvestgain. My guess is that noone has maxed out toons on every server nor have they met the entire playerbase. A big part of this game is supposed to be social. The game is not all about xp, but maybe it is supposed to be about the experience? :)

I really havent seen all that much whining. What I have seen is a bunch of people using this forum for what it was meant for. Sharing ideas, expressing concerns, foreseeing problems, etc. This is exactly what goes on in that meeting room when the devs meet to discuss these changes.
The new level cap, although imo it is too high, IS a good idea and most people think so too. But there ARE potential issues it will cause and discussing them NOW is a good idea. I am deeply concerned with the reswearing issue, but even if they do nothing about it I will still be here, playing, and adjusting, and occassionally getting extremely upset because I lose a loyal friend as a follower. Oh well. I think my attitude is shared by most.
There are a few people threatening to quit and I say BYE! They would leave over something anyway, why not this. Name change, Passup nerf, reswearing issue, thru all of those, which are the issues that concern me, I have never once wavered from the following:
This is the best game out there. Despite its problems and my personal issues with some of the features of it I am here for the long run. As long as my finances and health permit me to play I will be here. THAT is the attitude of most people. Just because they choose to come to these forums and post their disagreements and discuss the things they dont like about the game does not mean that they dont love it as much as anyone.
Just my humble 2 cents,
MJ
