Dear Turbine,

Well, as you can see from these boards, the verdict is still out and as well it should be. I would like to take this opportunity to say what's in my heart at the moment. While I don't always agree with what you guys do, I do understand why you do things. Your jobs are to be creative. I for one think your whole team do your jobs well. I think the team there has potential. I believe that with time, with resourses, and with a free hand to implement the ideas you all brainstorm, that AC will be and continue in the future to be a game that attracts the best of players from around the world.

We all come from society's that are so high strung. Everyone wants their pie now... gimmie gimmie gimmie.... I need, I need...

Well, in the words of Dr. Leo Marvin, "Baby steps".

Let it be known that we know you guys are trying. That you set goals. That you miss the mark sometimes. Sometimes you nail it first time out. We know. We understand. Given the work you do, I know that 95% of the people that play this game would fail at it. You have an opportunity in your positions that some would kill for. But, as with most careers in life, it looks different from your side. Your's is a job. You have deadlines, low pay, and bosses to keep happy. Alot of us would fold up under the pressure you guys are under. It's so easy to sit here and say things about what we would do or how we would changes things. It doesn't work that way. A few of us know.

I believe that in time, you will figure it out. You will come to the understanding that not everything is for everyone. I say stick to your guns. If something isn't right, don't always come here first to see how we would change it. We don't really know how to change it. We only want what we want, and we always want it now.

Baby Steps.

Rome wasn't built in a day. AC has been around for 5 years now. That's a twinkle of an eye. I doubt in 20 years that I will be sitting behind computer desk logging in to see how many experience points my followers passed up. But I do know that in 20 years I will remember these times that I have played this damn game.

So you see.... some of you did something right. You have a loyal base of fans and followers that admire, love, cherish, hate, and can't live with out the things you have created.

As the next chapter of AC opens and we close this chapter out, lets not forget that the friends we have there in Turbines offices, are friends... We don't take enough time to stop and just say...

Thanks.

Baby steps... baby steps.

Good luck guys and remember, we are thinking of you.

I for one have not had many complaints about this game and am always thankful every time I log into another patch day completed!

I would not want your jobs at Turbine for anything. Though I am very thankful for what you all do. Keep up the fine work and I will keep playing your fine game!

That's a great letter, and I have to add that I think Turbine should stick to what they think is best. Sure we may not agree with them all the time, but why do you we keep coming back then? ;) Turbine has to remember, the people who come to these forums to complain and whine, or even appraise are the most outspoken players in the game. What about the masses of people who never go near these forums or never once send a complaint to Turbine? These people may fully and wholly disagree with every word that is said on these forums and may actually like what Turbine proposes.

So Turbine, keep up the great work and do what you think is right.

Nice letter.

I prefer to live the changes before griping about them. Sometimes Turbine sees things I dont.

Some things I like - others I dont. But I have so far been able to adjust to them all and keep going.

It's the changes that keep the game interesting for me.

The same will go for the expansion pack. I will purchase one for my main account and wait to see if I like it before investing for the other 5 accounts. Or if there is even a reason to purchase it for all 5.

Greetings,

I've been wanting to say this for a long time...please allow me a moment for a personal observation.

So many people have been burying AC over the years...from monthly patches that have supposedly "nerfed" their favorite weapon/hunting area/etc, to newer, more dazzling graphically challenging games.

AC still stands...and with these announcements, it's obvious Turbine wants it to stand for a long time!

Gang, here's a toast to all of you! From the "paid" employees at Turbine, past and present, who were/are responsible for the bones of this game...to the people who spend countless hours working on fansites/clan websites, who are the nervous system of this game, connecting us all together...to the final group, the players themselves, who are the lifeblood of this game. Without the dedication that each of you put forward, this game would have disappeared into obscurity like so many before, and probably so many to come after her.

Salute!

AC could EASILY be around in 20 years... especially if all of Turbine's other games flop like I am thinking they will. Now, I don't mean to hex them but the philosophy behind D&D for example, is completely contrary to what I am hearing of it so far... etc.

I think that once some of the other games go under, AC will probably get another expansion pack and then achieve another golden age as they resort to their previous philosophies and finally stop UCMing (as they easily can - see my "top 5 things the expansion NEEDS" post if you dont believe me ;) )... yup.

I don't know why you wrote this letter to Turbine.

I cannot even imagine how you can overstate, "baby steps." My kid was born three years after AC 1 came out. She no longer walks in "baby steps" and neither should AC.

It is time for the game and the developers to mature this game along with the games in the marketplace. They appear to have taken a stab at it, but not much more. The presentation on this website for the expansion is lack-luster at best and only served to disappoint rather than inform or excite.

I have paid for seven accounts for the last five years, I have two accounts on AC2. I have certainly showed my appreciation by my small contribution to their bottom-line. I do not feel the need to gaggingly suck up in a puplic letter to them. I consider myself quite a consumate suck-up, but your letter takes the cake. It takes sycophancy to an all new level.

Although, I respect and appreciate your opinion and your post. I'm sick to death of AC, "trying." I want them not to try but to do. Grow up, no more baby steps. AC is is a mature game and should act accordingly.

Chris, everyone is entitled to have their own opinion...and their own aganda/wish-list.

And "baby steps" may well have been overstating it a bit...

However, there's a segment of the gaming base, and the AC playerbase, that "wants it all now", and the problem is, of course, is that if we were to "get it all now", there would be nothing new to have later.

One of the reasons why there are no comedy or action/drama shows on TV that have been around for 20 years or more is that eventually the creative writing staffs of any/all of those shows run out of new ideas...even with the infusion of new blood and working up new variations of old themes/storylines that were successful before. And that's also the reason why so many of the first-release films we see nowadays are remakes of films that were released years ago ("The Manchuran Candidate" being the most recent example).

Of course, it's somewhat hard to determine what you think Turbine should be doing that it isn't. Your post doesn't articulate any details whatsoever in this respect, and your post history doesn't indicate that you've articulated them here before...or at least not under that particular nom de plume.
