Just a guess but I think it would be cool to have the new race have Pets, graphics look pretty good on them too.

Dont remember where but somewhere in the Throne of Destiny coverage it was stated that there are NO new skills planned for the expansion...

Which means that Viamonts will NOT get a 'pet eater' skill, and probably end up with spear as their racial weapon as its closest to damage of the other racials at the moment.
