Will there be any other upgrades to the graphics aside from the textures and such? Does the new detail apply to the game enviroment as well? I've only seen upgrades to character models and creatures so far.

I was hoping to see some more flora drawn on the landscape like tall grass and thick brush. Would also love to see simple character shadow effects and maybe some more enhanced lighting effects to go along with that.

yes they're gonna have updated models for everything

bump mapping i assume will help in this

and the land scape will be updated..

the water.. who knows..

but I agree.. pixel shaders on the water would rule

i should go get me a fx5900 card now..

Pixel Shaders 1.1 i think its called only requires Direct X 8.1 cards like ATI radeon 8500 or Geforce 3 TI 500 (I think its called) and up.

i agree with you, I still run on a TI 4200 as well and I don't need a reason to upgrade it.

If i went with a Geforce FX 5200 that supports direct X 9 the card itself is slower than my TI 4200 and even slower than ATI 8500!

I think one of the devs (Srand maybe) said while they are moving to DirectX9 they will be coding using DirectX7, for now. Implementing DirectX9 now gives them room to grow later.

So the Ti4200 should be great for the expansion pack.

oh i know it is, i heard them say they want to play with pixel shaders though.

who knows if that means it'll be in the expansion or not..

but i would never get a fx5200 ..

fx5900 xt and regular are rated highly

and you can get them for about 160 bucks on pricegrabber.

Hell i have a FX5600 256 and 512 of ram and i run Doom3 on high on 1280x768 smooth as ice with like no choppyness they can upgrade AC alllll they want ;) i wish they would make trees and water move though and make tall grass that moves and water that acts like water. And update the sky to.

I have a ti4200 and run Doom III on high settings at a nice Res (don't remember exact number). Not worried at all about the upgrade.

Getting back the original intent of this post, I'd like to see some grass that blows in the wind, and maybe some flowing water.

oh i'm not worried

i'm just a tech geek

i want the new pci express cards that are out but i just built my computer a few months ago

DDR2 ram would've been nice.. but i can wait another 2 years to buy a new one.

I might get a Powerbook next actualy... of course i can't play AC on that.
