Hello, I am Ryucho Rajileth of Harvestgain. I recently started writing a book about my character's beginnings in Asheron's Call. The story of my beginnings in the game wasn't very interesting, so I did add in some things that are not true and may glorify my character, but I had to think of something more interesting. If I ever have the time I am planning to write about the entire 4 years that I had played the game, but that has yet to be decided upon. Some of the people in the book are real players in the game, some are not. I've tried my very best to make everything correspond with the game, while making it not sound like a game.

My book is at the following link. If needed I can post the chapters in this forum one by one.
My Book (http://www.geocities.com/ryucho0/My_Book.html)

I am looking for feedback from real AC players, because so far I've only gotten feedback from my friends who have read it. So, please post any critisism, comments, or questions you have!

Thank you!

~Ryucho Rajileth of Harvestgain

oww. Text hurts my eyes a little.

It was pretty good, although there was an error I noticed. Ispar isn't on the same planet as Dereth, they are two completely different places.

great story, the only problem i see is the mention of levels. if you're trying to keep it from sounding like a game. I dont know a literary fix for it tho maybe some of our more experianced writers can help there.

o.O Good call! ugh... I feel stupid for overlooking that... it just sounded so natural I forgot to remove it. Thanks!

Does anyone know what planet Ispar IS on???

We don't know what planet Ispar is on (or if it is the planet in itself), but Dereth is on Auberean. Asheron's portals brought us from Ispar to Dereth. The natives of Ispar are human and the natives of Auberean are Empyrean. You can get more information on Ispar here: http://ac.warcry.com/index.php3?content=lore/ispar/contents

If it is unknown where Ispar is, I am just going to say that it is on the other side of Auberean... There isn't much else I can do.

Ispar is a planet. It's not the name of a country or continent or island or anything like that. Aside from the PCs, the Ursuin are native to Ispar as well. Probably some of the other animal life as well.

Ispar is definitely another planet... Most likely it's the name of the planet itself, that's how I usually think of it at least, although it could just be the continent all the Isparians are from.

As for the levels, personally I wouldn't worry about them too much - If you wanted to make it sound completely apart from a game you'd have to just use terms like 'He had great experience' instead of 'He was level 126', but levels aren't really so bad, it could be sort of like a ranking system based on a person's skill, sort of like the different coloured belt system in martial arts ('Wow, you had no trouble there! You must be what, level 50, 55?'). I think it's up to you really, change the references if you think it sounds better without, if you like it better with them I don't think anyone will complain ^_^

The only thing I would say is, apparently some roleplayers (I've just heard of this by the way, haven't actually seen it), keep the level numbers but call it something else, along the lines of 'I'm 33rd Sphere' or 'I have 57 honours' or things like that; I personally think that seems a little unneccesary, you may as well just call a level a level if you're still going to talk about them. That's just my personal preference though, if you or if anyone else prefers the sound of another name for levels, that's just fine of course ^_^

Edit: Abdul posted while I was typing ^_~

I know for certain that rats are native to Ispar - They were actually brought to Auberean by portalspace researchers as pets! Chickens probably are too, since we knew about them long before they arrived... Rabbits surprisingly aren't from Ispar, they're Aubereanean (I *like* that word!).

Can't think of any other animals that are definitely Isparian off the top of my head, though I do vaguely remember a mention that gromnies are the only large native Aubereanean species that's survived all the new monsters coming through, so anything else could be from Ispar... Where did you see about the Ursuins Abdul? Any other critters mentioned there? ^_^

Edit 2: I typed 'Isparians' instead of 'Ursuins'... Well you know, because we're so similar O_O

...except that it's referred to as the "world of Ispar" all over, including articles on this very site. And generally contrasted with Auberean, not Dereth.

It was mentioned in the monthly event when the Ursuin were put in, either in a post by the devs or as part of the in-game lore. Maggie's also refers to the Ursuins as native to Ispar.

lol, my mistake, I couldn't remember anywhere it was specifically said that it was a planet, was posting at 1am ^_~

Well remembered about the Ursuins as well! It's annoying, I don't have either my AC or DM manuals about just now so I can't look at the little bestiaries in there to say if it mentions any other Isparian critters...

Thank you all for your input... I'll make sure to edit it to change Ispar to a completely different planet.

Since there is so much on the background of the monsters, I'll include that with Llan's Monster Attunement capabilites later... should add to some detail.

Just so everyone knows, all of the characters mentioned thus far are actual characters on the Harvestgain server. Not many of them play anymore, but now and then they can be seen online doing things.

There are a few people who I still would like to talk to... To name a few:
Llan al-War
Lorcan
Alliance
Daark Al-Slaayer (sp?)

I can't remember exactly how to spell Daark's name... I'll get a check on that ASAP.

Anyway, if you are still in contact with any of the following, OR if you actually knew me way back when and I did not include you in the book thus far, please tell me! I don't want to leave any details out.

Ok, I've been doing lots of typing and more should be posted on the website soon. Again, if you need the text in colors easier to read, I can email it to you in black and white.

heh Ryucho, I, too, am writing a book entitled "My Life in Dereth: The Adventures of an Aluvian Swordsman". It is a mix of an short autobiography during the years I've played AC, and goes in and out of character in order to describe things that happen in game. The ingame parts are part factual, most fictional. Still a very rough draft. I'll post some excerpts.

Didn't read all these replies so if this has been mentioned sorry:

I write fan fiction for Anarchy Online Vault. If every I have to mention that a character is lower level, I comment on their strength and battle experience. The whole idea with fan fiction is to take an abviously fake world and make it that much more believable.
