On ac1, regarding Empyreans, we had been searching for many ways to break them from portal space prison made by virindi singularity overlord(s) and for the ages until the fallen kings timeline.
"Emperior Garaine" had the Tome hidden until the Archons of the Ancient somehow broke the bindings during the undead war saga.
the tome is somehow a sentient thing and trick the archons to assasinate Gariane and it suck them into some void and Garaine knew all the spells and sealed the tome into the void.
As the magic as gone haywired and mana line once again disorted and breaking the portal space prison, this allowing Empyreans to escape the prison when they though it would keep them safe from Olthoi and got caught by virindi.
this making the empyreans a little confused as thier world had been altered and rebuilted by humans. and their knowledges of spells forgotten and weakened by Tome's mana distortments, so they have to relearn spells.

as for Viamonts, they were here for few year or even decade(s), they werent strong enough to take down the hordes of Olthoi, so they live safely of that island "untouched", they may have dealings with Virindi and Shadows somehow. i think they are so disgusted with undeads and may have very little contacts as possible or none at all.
and i think recently, that Viamontian King is getting sick with jeoluosy and envy of High Queen Elysa, and he want that title of High King of Dereth, which make them very badass and worth playing a few viamont toons, nice armors and stuffs.

i am afraid that Turbine has to redo all that monster redistribution for post +126 lvl caps into capped 275 lvl. and it is definely need a larger land tracts instead of series of small islands surrounding Dereth (osteth and dires), they have to go expand from 100w/100e/100n/100s into either 150 or 200 in each directions or switch map on "other hemisphere" to make logical map wise, or global version. there are larger contentient (land mass) than Dereth.
it would be nice to see more exotic landtypes and fauna variety.

Depends on which game you play :) I don't play AC2 so I tend to think the expansion for AC1 will do better in my bias opinion.

LMAO! Maddy. I think AC1 will do better, just do to the fact that the graphics were the thing that was holding alot of people back (Go to MMORPG.com to see what I am talking about) and AC1 is way more established. I use to play AC2 up till about a two months ago, I left due to it had just gotten to the point it was unbearable,

1) This bothered me alot, the animations were sooooooooo slow, it seemed like the entire game was in slow motion. And no it wasn't lagg, cus in AC2 lagg slows you to a stand still.

2) The combat, well the combat was fun, yet it was too slow and you couldn't really solo anything at all.

3) No player base, no one for miles and miles of land. There is litterly no one ig.

I honestly think AC1 might do better. From what I've seen on forums, it really was the graphics that were holding a lot of people back from playing the game and enjoyed the setup of AC1 when compared with AC2.

I just wish they were redoing the battle interface in AC1 or at least the interface in general.

both AC's will be successful.
i hadnt been playing Ac2 since last spring (march 2004), it hard to keep up with friends (hardcores) they are already passed +50 lvl and ranking hero stage. for those are 1-44 lvl wont find anyone near their level range of the group.
only way to get infusion of new bloods with expansion to make high level gamers to hang out at start towns to recruit and swell their rank, but those new folks will get frustrated with specific quests need to flagged and those big league cant help them to succeed, expectaully in lore vaults to defeat gatekeepers.
i stop at lvl 42 because most of them quit and some too high to help us out or refused. Ac2 new contents and new race to add will may give those 1-44 lvl to get second chance to complete some vaults or quests with the help of "fellows" in order to get back with group and earned a hero status.

Ac1 (classic/DM/and ToD) will succeed as well, lifting the level restriction cap to higher level and capped at 275. and new race flavor, armor flavor, and something new that we dont see since Turbine nation's expansion teaser.

But Ac1 isnt going to bring back some old players, but maybe few back for leveling spree, or to see a tad improvement on graphic textures but it isnt going to be attractive to "new gamers" because it is still outdated, even a slightly retextured arts. it still look lame to anyone that dont play ac.
i think Turbine is going to have a major overhaul to do with original Ac into Ac2ish standard within 2-3 years from now, it look old and stale in 2007, who would going to open an account with turbine and paused, "oh wait! ac2 look so pretty"??, see what i mean? in 2007 or 2010, a larger online services will get so big and more variaties and lot of games to choose from.

who knows if MEO or DDO will be more succeesfull or it dies within 2-3 yrs, business foresights, unknown due to anything catatrophic, or lawsuits, or bad concepts adding and everyone dislike it. so i dont know, it is unforseen events that we have to watch out for.
i am aware of dwindling log-ins, few games did came out during 2003 and 2004, but remembered E & B are gone and closed, and few others are gone too and more coming in 2005 and 2006, so only 10 online games will survive out of 100 games that was put out.
Doing ToD expansion is first step that Turbine is doing, in next few months by adding "Hairdressing" to inprove character's looks before they do major overhaul in new AC prototype.
I know this will make Turbine aware of problems and take care of it within thier timeframes by doing a prototype and stay alive in business to succeed beyond 2010.

I play AC2 and AC1 and id have to say AC1 will be more successful im not gonna bother with AC2 EP because they dont seem to be adding much (Housing, Walk-In Buildings) just seems like they are adding a few months patches to CD and adding a new race. I will most likely quit AC2 to play new AC1 EP.

This is a no brainer. AC1 has outshined AC2 from the moment AC2 came on the market. So of course an AC1 expansion will be more successful than an AC2 one. Making an expansion for an already succesful game is a good idea, but making an expansion for an unsuccessful game is like trying to reanimate the dead. Why the folks in the AC2 department think they can be Dr. Frankenstein in releasing an expansion for AC2 is beyond me.
