I was wondering what roles Juggernaut, Titan, Justicar, and Prefect Lugians have in the Lugian caste system. I haven't read anything in the lore that explains their positions in Lugian society.

The most recent example of these new castes is with the Lugian Juggernaut in Dryreach (he came with the Lugian NPC Gorak to help defend the town in Sept. event). I am curious to know what significance they have in Lugian society, if any, and how they managed to outrank the Extas and Tiatus (at least when comparing their levels they appear to).

Lugian Caste System:
Laigus - Commoner (Miners & Workers)
Amploth - Artisan
Obeloth - Fighter
Lithos - Champion
Gigas - Governor
Extas - Patriarch or Matriarch
Tiatus - Smith
Juggernaut - ???
Titan - ???
Justicar - ???
Prefect - ???

I have a second question on this topic...

The guides say that Lugians battle to the Death to go up a rank in the caste system.

So HOW many Lugians have to die to make one Prefect?

Lol, just curious :D

Maybe they breed like rabbits?

that doesnt make much sense, a commoner has to kill another commoner to become an artisan? lol

I'm only repeating what's in the game Guide boo. :D

It's something I've always wondered about. Lugians must have secret breeding grounds or something.

Maybe they have lifestone just like us?

Linvak Tukal has one, but I dont remember if they built it alone or with our help

Its look is unique tho

Hey now, Marius is right :p

Lugian society is clannish and structured, employing a rigid caste system and a strict code of honor to enforce order among their ranks. Ascending from one caste to the next is achieved through a bloody battle to the death. Lugians are severe isolationists: intruders in their steadings are slain swiftly and without mercy.

Maybe the times have changed since then.. lol
/e wonders where the female Lugians are hiding

btw I think Ciandra built the lifestone at Linvak Tukal.

i think Turbine made mistake for going up the rank by battle to death.

they would have been excint from the face of dereth.

i think it need to have that Lugian Lore rewritten someway, they are still having Xenophobia when any Human or any other tribes, they were swiftly dealt with or failed.

having the lifestone there make sense.

they have come a long way when the Ac2 came out.

Do keep in mind that although it's attached to story about Linvak Tukal, this part:

Lugians, a race of massive gray giants, were among the first arrivals on Dereth. They are incredibly massive and strong --the average Lugian is eight feet tall and weighs half a ton. They live, for the most part, in the Linvak Mountains in the southernmost reaches of the island; rogues and scouts have been sighted in dungeons elsewhere on the island. They are determined, single-minded fighters, and their massive fists, and even more dangerous weapons, can crush a common human with a single blow.

Dangerous to Deadly, depending on caste

Comes from the original retail manual... There's some stuff in there that's just outdated, and doesn't match the lore anymore... here's an example, part of the description of the undead:

Though death is seldom permanent for humans in Dereth, there is nonetheless a growing number of undead - mostly the risen forms of those who died before discovering the Lifestones. Some evil magic, its source unknown, is touching the slain and raising them to wreak vengeance upon the living.

Which is of course, given what we know now about the undead, completely untrue ^_~

Turbine's done an incredible job of keeping the lore consistent, given the sheer amount of it, but there are occasionally differences, especially in the very very old stuff. The lugian fight to the death may or may not be one of them ^_^

Well my point to this post was finding out what the position/role of Juggernaut, Titan, Justicar, and Prefect Lugians have in the Lugian caste system. I was hoping maybe a member of the AC Live Team could shed a little more light into these 4 castes. I guess since there's been no response then these were just added to fill content to fight in high level areas or just wasn't important enough to explain. I do realize there's a lot work that is done each month and sometimes things get missed or is overlooked. Maybe someday we'll see more lore about Lugian society on Dereth.

Well, just guessing from the names it sounds like these Lugians might have names describing their roles rather than their castes... Whereas all the original lugian castes have fictional (Or I should say Lugian ^_~) names, these all have names with english meaning:

pre·fect
A high administrative official or chief officer

jus·ti·ci·ar·y also jus·ti·ci·ar (--r)
n. pl. jus·ti·ci·ar·ies, also jus·ti·ci·ars
A high judicial officer in medieval England.

Both Prefect and Justicar sound more like job descriptions...

ti·tan
2. titan One of prodigious size, strength, or achievement.

jug·ger·naut
2. An overwhelming, advancing force that crushes or seems to crush everything in its path.

And Titan and Juggernaut sound like they could be titles or descriptions, although they could also be jobs with dramatic names of course ^_~

You said

I would guess that they aren't higher castes of lugians, but more specialised or accomplished members of the other castes...

BTW, there's several lore pieces that mention Lugians using lifestones.

Thanks Cerulia for giving me an explanation, I appreciate it :)
I think you're right, they're probably specialized Lugians from the other castes. I didn't think of it in that context but it does make sense.
I'm kicking myself for not looking up the terms first in the dictionary, that would of answered a lot of my questions, lol.

Yeah you're right Gustaive, there's the Travel Log text from Renegade Mace quest that mentions it.

It didn't occur to me till you mentioned the lifestones, but actually these fights make a lot more sense now.. I thought fighting to the death didn't really fit with the lugian's style, but apparently they just like to PK ^_~

I wonder if they complain about giant boards with nails being totally unbalanced in pvp...

that doesnt make much sense, a commoner has to kill another commoner to become an artisan? lol

Wouldn't a commoner have to kill an artisan etc. to move up in rank? this would make it less likely for an undeling to challenge someone of highr rank, limiting the number of battles and therefor avoiding the self imposed genocide mentioned earlier. :D
