View Full Version : Thoughts on rares

I started thinking about this again, and the constant chance of a rare drop still bugs me. =X Killing a cow is easier than killing a Tremendous Monouga, but they will both have the same chance of dropping a rare.

For a more reasonable example, a high level character could kill 150-250 olthoi or tuskers, but only 30-50 VoD creatures. In the interest of fairness, it would make sense to give VoD creatures a 5 times greater chance of dropping a rare. From a general viewpoint, a creature's chance of dropping a rare should be proportionate to the time it takes to kill. An Olthoi Gardener takes about as long to kill as an Olthoi Swarm Mutilator for appropriate level characters, so they should have the same chance of dropping a rare, but an Olthoi Sentinel or Primordal should be given a greater chance.

I'm not asking for a difference based on level -- Mud Golem Sludge Lords and Iron Golem Kingpins should have increased chances also -- I'm asking for an equal chance for all characters doing level appropriate hunting.

I know that chances will be slim, even with an increase, but I'd still like to see the increase. :)

I say keep it how it is and make it totaly random you could have the same chance of getting it of a chicken as you would critters in VOD. Giving it a higher chance with the critter level is BS and makes it un-fair.

I like their idea of which I posted quite some time ago and that was give everyone and anyone a chance at a great prize. To only allow the high lvls a chance for a good to great prizes is one of the failures of the present system.
