About those pack dolls- would we get one on any characters which we don't log in during the November event? I've currently got VERY limited access to AC, and I can't log in right now, unless I take my laptop round to a friend's house with net access. Am I gonna lose out if I don't manage to get logged in this month?

Any character that existed prior to the November event will receive the pack doll the next time it logs in, no matter when it is. If this ever changes there will be an annoumcement.

Well, I traveled to the new island SW of the V isles. I get to the new cathedral and run up and hop in the new portal up there. Then I crash while in portal space.

I've deleted the cell.dat, and I still crash while logging in.
I do not have any 3rd party programs running, nor did I have any running at the time of the first crash.
The other characters on the account login properly.

Maybe there's a bug with the new dungeon?
If not - please help me get out of it :(

Even though some think these PD's are great ,sure wish you could of included action figures from the whole past 5 yrs . On vault I have already read of those that got multiples of the same one, which must blow on their part. For me not much of a way to say thanks for 5 yrs of support

No, it may be our computers. But either way, it's a technical issue, not a content issue.

Incidentally, it's not happening to everyone. It'd be a lot easier to track down if it were. It's happening to lots of people, maybe even ALMOST everyone, but not everyone. We're watching some characters running around in the same locations that are causing other characters to crash.

Fair enough. I haven't seen or heard of anyone making it, but I guess you see a bit more.

Which now leads me to another question. An envoy refused to unstick me because some of the people they unstuck just ran back in and got stuck again like morons. They refuse to help me because a couple people don't have common sense?

Unfortunately yes. We're trying to resolve the issue on our end before moving people as customer service would be overwhelmed if everyone just kept getting stuck over and over again.

One recommendation is to try @lifestone, @house recall, or @allegiance hometown while stuck in portalspace. Some players have reported that this has freed them. The Envoys should start recommending this as well.

I was crashing after spending a moment or two in portal space - spamming /house recall until I got the recall message in the chat got me out of it.

There's about a two-second window on my machine between the /house recall command taking, and the client crashing - but it's enough to set the recall off. Next time I logged in, I was at my house.

A pain, but its one way out.

I'm also getting severe graphics/client lag on the new island itself, both outside and inside the cathedral building. Dunno if it's related, but it's also a severe pain...

Rollback? NO, there won't be a rollback, even if this is server-side hotfix. No items are lost, this is a simple problem with coding most likely creating an infinite loop.

Rollbacks are only done when mass numbers of the populations experience some kind of problem that can't be recovered. IE; The Platnium Scarab macro a few years ago made a rollback for a day before 90% of the server knew about it.

By the way, still ISO Zyrca, Ibn, Orion, Jessica, etc. Pack Dolls. Next year?

Ibn

Nocturne is correct, there is no consideration of a rollback at this time.

A very poor patch. A lot of broken content, glitchy graphics, unannounced changes (I don't recall, offhand, any prior notice that the Hollow weapons were to have their damage adjusted; in fact, just the opposite, that they were to remain as they were), and some very, very shabby QA and customer service. All this is especially disappointing given the extra day taken to "fix" the update before its launch.

I am curious ... is the house that the journal is in to flag for the ew isle supposed to be invisble?

If so , we is it so buggy around there .. we were getting stuck in places.

Also ... I was on the new isle ... that's really buggy to , I kept lagging back in many areas ... I also cant see alot of the landscapes special features ... like the statue heads. I logged in /out and even rebooted ... yet i can not see em' ... I know they are there cuz someone is standing on them and it lags me back like there is something there.

Another bug?

New isle is very cool looking ... not much content on it at this time .. I am sure it will change. I love the pack dolls. Can't wait to learn more.

Do what ya gotta do to fix the bugs and I think we will all be happy with this patch. ;)

Ibn

I don't recall, offhand, any prior notice that the Hollow weapons were to have their damage adjusted; in fact, just the opposite, that they were to remain as they were

From the Letter to the Players:

In general, the damage on all Melee weapons is being increased by some amount.

There was no statement that the Deadly Hollow Weapons were being left alone.

We're all very sorry about the current issues, and we're working very hard to get them resolved.

I don't know if it helps any, but if we had gone live yesterday, we would've had these problems *in addition* to all the ones we fixed earlier in the week.

Ibn
11-11-2004, 07:50 PM
We believe we have been able to reproduce and isolated the problem that is causing the issues with players being stuck in portalspace, not being able to see some items, having other new items crash their client, etc.

We are currently building new server-side data. Once that is done QA will go over the new data and see if the current problems reoccur. If QA signs off on the new data, NetOps will begin transferring the new data to the game servers.

Under this plan the worlds would come down at 6AM PST / 9AM EST / 3PM UTC, and come back up sometime around 11AM PST / 2PM EST / 8PM UTC.

In the meantime we strongly recommend that players not attempt the Nuhmudira's Cottage quest. Players who are currently stuck in portalspace may be able to get out by using a recall command such as @marketplace, @lifestone or @house recall.

At this time we do not expect a rollback.

We apologize for this unplanned downtime and the issues that players have experienced today. The State of the Network and Launcher pages will be updated shortly.

Feedback on Burun Slayer Crossbow:

I do more damage with my Pierce Rending Crossbow. Not really sure how this was going to help us against the Burun... My friend, a Swordsman, said her Blackmire Sword does a LOT more damage than the Noble Slayer.

Back in the intro movie, Asheron gave us an elixir that made us completely knock the heck out of Olthoi. I just wish we could get something like that.

It wouldn't hurt to have ONE quest item be better than the best item you can tinker up -- my Pierce Rending Crossbow can nuke almost anything in the game.

The Burun Slayer Crossbow can only do decently on one thing -- BURUN!

So please, consider tweaking these. It wouldn't hurt to do "extra" damage to Burun, especially when the plot is so thick like this.

Burun Slayer Crossbow -- 77 damage/shot
Pierce Rending Crossbow -- 194 damage/shot

Heh, that would've been neat :D I have to say, I get the same feeling when I see some of the more well-known monarchs in the game... it's just super cool to see an almost-famous. Wish you guys could do that more often, just pop in on quests or hunting unexpectedly ;) say how-dee-do and what-not.

As for the patch, I'm anxious to see what kind of content develops from the new Blackmire. I didn't get involved in the last Blackmire, but I enjoyed reading all about it from various folks on different forums.

And I didn't do much exploring, but I loved the pack dolls. I just hope (hint hint) that these dolls don't show up at casinos, to be available via the Thanking Stones quest. Just like Ulgrim's bathrobe, it's nice to have "rare" items, especially right before a new expansion. Give those of us that have been around something to hang on to and cherish when all the attention gets diverted to the new folks who will be coming in.

All in all, good patch. A little thin, the dev notes and roll-out article would have made me groan in dispair if I had read them prior to logging in. BUT, it's the end of the year, the end of a story arc. As far as I'm concerned, if an AC subscription revolves so much upon what happens in the next patch, an unsub was probably on its way anywho, and there's not much that can be done to make each and every person happy.

Good job to you and your team, Ibn.

For those of you unhappy with the patch (and if Ibn's comments about waiting a few days aren't enough), check out Cragstone for a pretty big spoiler as to what might happen later this month :)

The teaser shots on AcVault/Mystics also show a different version of the burun slayer weapons we're currently wielding, there's probably more to those upgrades as well.

I had no problem with lag on the new isle once leaving the area of that big temple. And I gotta say, KUDOS TURBINE! This island is SO cool. Even though we couldnt do the quest we had a BLAST exploring the island. Not one to complain, Ive never commented on content being thin, or lacking or ever once claimed to be bored in game. Quite the opposite. I love this game and have always stated that I'm with it til the end. But man, after this new island I might be spoiled into expecting such greatness in the future! AHHAHHA

 Wasn't quite final judgement for me. Just the simple fact that there will be continued content at any point before next patch is exciting! I've liked the patches lately where half-way through the month we see yet another development in an on-going story arc. Much more interesting than patches that are said and done the day of patch.

Aside from the fact that patch was delayed for a day, I went to the new island and couldn't play my mage for 4 or so hours, and of course knowing that upgrading my Noble Katar for my UA is utterly pointless, so far it seems to be shaping up well, lore wise.

A lot has been added recently to increase the lore of this arc, and currently this patch seems to be going well...

Sometimes I wish you guys would do less to obscure the lore though :P

In general, the damage on all Melee weapons is being increased by some amount.

So why is it impossible to do any considerable amount of damage anymore? With phantom/weeping/hollow, I have low hits of 7, 8, and 9. Crits are around low 30s, high 20s. This is with maxed coord/str/ua and majors. I want to see what kind of testing is done before implementing these "PK fixes." This is the worst thing to happen to melees ever.

Why is it that you guys listen to crappy mages when they cry and nerf melees to hell? Even last patch when the phantom UA was oh so powerful, a good mage and a good melee would equal a good fight. Now with any UA weapon, a very very skilled melee has to work hard just to bring down a very, very unskilled mage. I really don't want to become one of the flavor of the month PK's that switched to the most damaging weapon like sword just to be able to compete with mages.

*edit* Even though sword does the most damage now for a melee, it still hits for crap. *clap* Thanks alot.

By the way, the non PVP content is awesome. It's the PvP stuff that has me very upset...

Certainly you are as tired of getting flack over badly implemented patches as we are of going through them.

The dolls are cool. thanks. They will suck if you make them available somewhere down the line, like after the expansion pack. You know, like you did with the previous set.

On content: I didn't even play because of the upcoming hotfix and other technical problems. I do agree with the sentiment that unfolding new content beats the heck out of slamming all the new content on us in one day, and will be patient on this.

Ibn,

I like the dolls. The allegiance chat seems to reinforce that. My neighbor, a collector of masks and dolls, has redecorated with them. Baelzenon seems to be the favorite. The graphics on the king toad and queen bug are ws 10. :)

I like the cooking tweaks too. Please incorporate as many of these tweaks as you can, they are fun to discover and make a difference for low str combat capable crafters.

Haven't been to the new island yet.

Sorry to hear about the quest glitch. It's sw design and I am sure that TE will have it done in a day, unlike most industry sw firms who would take weeks or months. Please give every archer a pack of ws3 +15d 130 yumis because we are so aggrieved. :p

We just tested the damage made with weeping. Axe vs UA weeping. In letters to players it says that axe should have gotten an improvment to the cost of skillcredits it costs, and also should axe do higher crit then mace.

We used same armor on eachother when we did this test, and we maked sure that the crit hit was on the same part of armor. (lower leg in this case)

UA cost 4 skillcred to specc
axe cost 12? skill credit to specc

UA crit for 135 full power on armor baned to AL-580
Axe crit for 89 full power on armor baned to AL-580

the Axe skill was 495
the UA skill was 505

Now... i dont this is balanced.......

It should ve viceverca... Axe shold do 135 DMG and UA 89...

*edit*

Weeping Cold was used!

Chars was buffed and baned with lvl7 and used minor coldward
*end of edit*

I guess you have failed=)

The dolls are absolutely adorable! I got to chat with a town crier for just a few minutes before the game went down for the hotfix. I am looking forward to poking around when the game comes back up. While content is lacking so far, it's still early, and it's good to finally see Turbine introducing content throughout a patch instead of all at once on patch day.

Exploring the small island was fun. Found some nice places to jump off. I'm hoping the big tree (perhaps related to the ML trees), the old Empyrean Structures, and stuff like that ends up playing a roll in some lore or other events to come during the month.

You guys had said you reduced lag in certain areas, and I can sorta understand why you didn't say exactly where, but I think it's pretty clear that this new cathedral area was not one of those places that got lag fixed hehe. The waterfall, plus a highly graphic building, plus spawning creatures, etc. Wasn't so bad when I go away from it though, but that's kinda defeating the purpose of the cathedral.

At least there's a reason to do Noble Weapons now. Gonna do that some today on MT.

I like the dynamics in the beginning of the Xi Chapel quest...

Using the lore for questions was a bonus...

My only suggestion would have been to make a dozen questions or so, and randomize them for each ghost... maybe 3 to 6 different questions for each of the 3 possible answers... so people would actually have to read the questions, instead of the walktrhough version "Talk to statue, then click that head statue, then talk to statue again"... since it's the same question/answer everytime...

Although something tells me that was probably the original intent and time/resources only allowed for the one question/answer thing... or something...

Anyway, I liked it...

Comparing anything to UA is going to be a bit funky. UA gets a skill bonus but less of a str bonus. Were the stats of the 2 toons in this test aligned? It seems I saw a formula somewhere on what the STR damage adjustment for UA was but I dont recall where. A UA of 500+ should give you a nice damage bonus.

Unfortunately in this case that would not have caught yesterday's issue.

Yesterday's issue was caused by two mistakes -- the first mistake caused the problem, and the second mistake prevented it from being caught by anyone in QA or the live team. Essentially the problem was with the patch process going from October to November data, but the October data that we were building off of -- and that we were testing with -- was not the October data that all of you had on your machines.

We're looking at which of our procedures need to be changed in order to prevent this from happening in the future.

LOL Had to laugh at the jumping part.. that's exactly what I did most of, apart from picking up the piece from Nuhmudira for a Noble Weapon. Saw the tree... looks like the one from AC2. I guess it's true then.. they're gonna try more and more to turn AC1 into AC2, and maybe merge the players from here to there? *shrug*

Reduced lag? Um.. I don't think so! lol... I'm running an Athlon XP3200+ using 1GB PC3200 2.5v RAM. 256MB Nvidia GFX.. this machine rocks now, so no problem processing GFX Data... and that new Cathedral and especially the Waterfall.. geez.. bad news. I feel sorry for those with a much lesser system on dialup.. it must choke the CPU lol.

Nobel Weapons quest.. I heard it was a real PITA. Oh well..

Enjoyed jumping off the highest parts though... that's always fun. Reminded me of the No Falling Damage that's built into the Admin Client.. hehe. 80HP max from the highest part... piece o cake. :D

And I found the fishing to be as cool(Accept for the fact that it was a long run to it and the badies were a lot bigger than in the other holes) as the holes in the safer lands :)

Besides that its a great patch cannot wait for the next update(hopefully get some new costumes) and updates to Billing :)

The fishing holes at the Mosswart Fishing Village are more for flavor than anything else. Something to do while waiting for a respawn and to give a bit of ambience to the POI on a whole :)

When get find the time to get higher level fishing holes into the game, the ones on Xi Ru's Island will likely be replaced by something a bit more level appropriate for the area. When is that? Sometime in the future when we have time :)

Looks like some of the bugs we fixed. :p

I say some cuz I have not explored the new island since patch day and I was unable to see many items in-game .. i.e. stoneheads , but I trust they are fixed.

So far, I am enjoying this patch. Unfortunately, I have one complaint. I have never been outkilled on a quest with my bow toon unless I throw the kills for others. Anyhoot , I decided to help a friend do the Noble Weapon Quest. After several hours of struggling thru the quest we bumped into another group of 7 ppl. We all merged to kill Morguluuk.

My buddy is a maxed Sword toon and I'm maxed bow. He debuffs Morg then attacks using a tinked out AR fire Sword. I use my newly made Burun Slayer Noble Bow and I to am using fire. He has to stop to debuff Morg again cuz we lost half of our fellow ... I'm still shooting the entire time. In the end Morg is killed but guess who did not get the kill? That's right me!

I was out killed by a sword toon using AR fire that stopped to debuff him twice. Yea, we are both maxed in our classes .. skill and attributes.
I'm disappointed in the Slayer property and I trust it is a bug. I can not forsee any use in it if it does the same damage as AR or whatever. I honestly feel that my Bladed Bow of Impaling woulda outkilled this "Burun Slayer".

Can you guys confirm if there is a small problem in the Slayer property? I really hope so. TY! :)

I think the UA nerf was overdone. When looking at any weapon class and comparing skill credits, you should look at it as a total cost to spec for ANY character. For UA, that would be 12 credits, not 6. If you deduct 6 points when comparing it to other weapon classes, you basically say it is worthless because one group gets it as a racial skill. For 12 credits, UA should be on par with axe and x-bow.

The recent UA nerfs now make 1 v 1 against a mage or archer impossible. Why should any class have to resort to 2 v 1 tactics to be able to kill any one character. No one character should survive a 2 v 1 attack by characters of similar level. That is not balance in the least. It basically says your character is only meant to be half as powerful as a mage or archer.

I think the UA nerf came on alittle strong, it was hard enough to get a kill in last month against someone who knew what the heck they were doing, heh.

This is just a little one, cause I dont know anything about the new weapons or new island yet...I am just a solo swordswoman...but thank you for making the new health rations like the stamina rations...you just need to fix the burden units! I mean really, as someone else said on these fine forums...a granola bar should not weight more than a bottle of gatoraid! But thanks a heap for giving them to us cooks! And Happy Birthday, Asheron's Call.

So far, I've enjoyed adventuring the new island and quests that reenforce the game lore. I've played AC (1 and 2) from 1999. I learned more about AC this patch then all during that time.

The one thing that I found frustrating was our monarchy had two fellowships go on the Mogluurk(sp) quest last night. We waited a very long time while the three-part fellowship aready ahead of us figured out how to get him, then kill him three times. It was then our turn to kill him two times. This transpired while another fellowship was on our heels attempting to do the same thing.

Is there anyway that Mog could drop more pieces of flesh or that his spawn rate timer could be reduced? It seemed(?) that we waited up to twenty-five minutes for him to spawn, although the rumor was that he spawned every ten minutes. I thought it was possible that the hanging around in the hallway prevented him from spawning. Is that possible, also?

Anyway, I love the new content. You didn't nerf mage skills, so that was a big bonus, too. The new island is beautiful. The development of the lore was well written and well done. I'm very happy that I switched back from AC2 to play AC1.

Me too! I have vassals that hate quests. This vassal needed the salvaging scroll and I had to walk him through it over the phone. He was extremely frustrated.

Is it possible to allow us to run through the dungeons w/o recieving the reward or setting a timer?

If you untrain your skill and train a new skill, go from ax to sword...you can't get the Noble weap for your new role. Please lift this limit on the toons....

PACK DOLL WARNING:
Never feed them after midnight, and never, never get them wet!

I put several pack dolls on hooks in my cottage yesterday after I logged onto the patch. Today, I log in, and get greeted by bigger than life size "statues" of Asheron, Bael'zharon, Gaerlon, and Martine...while it's pretty cool, I don't think this was suppose to happen :D

Scared the crap out of my when I logged on my mule

Here are some fun pics of it:

IM not sure where to put this question.. but ill post it here and hope someone reads it.

Player population on server is going down drasticly. in no peak time its almost a ghost server=) i have checked out TD LC DT just to see and its about the same in all servers.

Peaktime 400 connected clients and to that you has to think of ~150 bot/macroers

off peak times 250 connected clients...

this sux, go to a town and its empty. stay in HUB/SUB for 1h and you might see 2-3 players running by.

As the amount of players keeps getting lower more and more will drop off the game.. not neccecarley unsubscribt but just not play...

So.. the solution to the problem is to MERGE SERVERS,

now.. merge servers will cause some issues to solve, like housing and names, and if you have active chars on both servers... but nothing that is to big to solve...

housing problem: just doubble the amount of housing on a server and that is solved.

Name problem. for those names that are occupied.. put a . in front of name or just give them a chance to rename.

playing active on both servers? just add a 12 slot character creation when servers are merged...

this is prolly not the best way to solve issues to a merge of servers, is just one way it could be done.. i bet turbine already have a lot of experience of this due to merge in AC2

I would Love to logon to a AC server and see 1k cliets connected..

My question is: How low does the server population need to be before you even concider a merge?

as it is now.. ACTIVE connected players on a server are between 50-250 peek-off peak time.

If Turbine wait to long with a merge the result will just be alot of unsubscriptions.. and with that a total death of the whole game..

Just act before its to late....

Well we did Reeshan quest last night .

I loved it everything was awsome !!

Untill i got my reward , i got this BSD Portal ....

Then i proceeded to proudly hook it to our Allegiance Mansion..Mansion love i thought..way to go Turbine i thought

Then :You may not hook any more Portals on your house. You already have the maximum number of Portals hooked or you are not permitted to hook any on your type of house.

Needless to say we were dissapointed

We have both Blackmire Portals hooked and thought this would be a nice addition for the lower level folks to use

I hoped this was Mansion Love ...please don't make this permanent

I reallt enjoyed the Burun Kukuur Reeshan Quest! I saw some clever ideas at work. I about pee'd myself when he swallowed me. (LOL)

It was really nice to see some creativity and experience something new. Since we know this is going to be a repeatable quest, we really cannot complain about the random rewards we can get. It is a 3 week timer. (BTW ... you should fix that portal limit on mansions)

I can't wait to see the other Kings spawn so I can my hides! I wanna combine em' all and hand in for my Noble Armor. I'm guessing it will be that Robin Hood costume we saw in teaser pics. It looked kinda like the old leather.

Still have to grumble about the Burun Slayer property. It is nothing to get excited about. AR,Bladed bow, or even a rend bow is still as good as the Burun Slayer Noble Bow. Still hoping it's broke and it will get fixed.

I agree. The Burun Bow is nothing special. It crits pretty decent but that's it, but then so does my rend crit pretty good, and usually better. I ended up with the kill and got Morgluuk's Trophy Head, and even that was a poor design... what's the point of putting a head flat against a plaque so you can't see the features of the head? Makes no sense at all, and looks like shoddy craftsmanship if it was made like that in real life.

Have the head STAND OUT from the Plaque so you can see FEATURES??? Duh.

The Burun wand is also a joke, unless you vuln every burun first.. and who wants to bother with that, when a frost rend wand does a better job to begin with?

Is there something special you have to do in order to get a Violet Ball? I wasted 40 minutes on a toon handing pyreals to the Town Crier and I didn't get one yet!
Talk about mildly annoying and tedious! :( I thought you were trying to get rid of tediousness?!?!?!? There's already talk of (and someone has already done so) making a Decal plugin to hand pyreals to a TC until you get a Violet Ball.

If and when a Violet Ball is made useful, will I still be able to get one at that time or will I be SOL because I didn't get one now?

Ibn,

I'm more than a little hot at the moment. For the third time an event goes live in the middle of the dang day when I'd venture to say more than half of your playing populace is off working to be able to pay you to play. The first time, that's cool, spread out the love. The second time, not so cool but I told myself that given the heat over the last two they wouldn't possibly do it a third time. Guess I was wrong.

I know the quest is repeatable, and does not have unique rewards but dang it, the first time on any quest is special. After the first time it is all written up and done by rote. I can keep myself from looking at the write ups and give myself some semblance of exploring something new, only to have "Hey d00d you're going the wrong way, the write-up says go this way or do this" thrown into my face by someone that asked to go along. There is nothing like being able to do these sorts of things along with those that enjoy the exploration of these quests when they originate. There is nothing like figuring out the puzzle the first time.

So what are my options? Do I need to find nighttime employment if I want to participate in any future first time events? Is this now Turbine's policy to make live all events in the middle of the afternoon? Dang, I'm steamed. Why are these events (the last 3 anyway) happening in the middle of the dang day?

It was Ken Karls idea to remove all tedium from the game and concentrate on the 'fun'...but that being said...

I truly doubt the content designers figured that anyone, ANYONE would want to sit at a Town Crier, tireless handing him pyreal after pyreal, all to get a Violet Ball for which there was no known use.

The best content design in the world can't keep you from pacing back and forth 50,000 times, and that is even MORE tedius...

I can understand it sucks to not be able to be part of the first group of people to go on a quest. But really, the third spawned on a Sunday when most of the players have the day off. The quest was laggier than normal due to the higher amounts of people available to do it.

It is impossible to ensure that every player gets a chance to be online when a Burun King spawns.

Heh... actually? It's mock 3D in a 2D environment. Not true 3D. Just like the whole game. Hopefully this will change with the expansion pack, and if it doesn't, more people will probably leave... who knows for sure.

If you look where the back of the head is against the plaque, they could have extended it outward from there on a more protrusive angle, allowing greater detail, along the lines of how we see the length of the Queen's head on that plaque. ;)

Oh well, I guess they got a different artist this time around, and paying him less. lol

I must admit.. I downloaded the WoW trailer today and geez... I know trailers are embellished a LOT, but if the actual game looks and plays how it's described.... hmmmm... will I stay or will I go, that is the question.

Sounds like you made the choice. Turbine never told you that the Violet ball would be absolutely necessary to go on in the story, nor would they if they wanted to keep subscribers. If you don't WANT the ball, then don't bother with it. It's not absolutely crucial, nor did anyone claim it was. Just a bonus for people who get lucky when feeding Town Criers like they always do for clues on the storyline.

Oh, and by the way, the ball does have a use.

I love Asheron's Call as well. In terms of being thankful for what the devs do, it's all fine and dandy to thank them for it... but for me, I'm paying them to do this... I'm contributing to their livlihood, keeping food on their tables.. so I EXPECT that they're going to continue to do this work whether people thank them or not.

Do you work at a regular job where you are paid a salary? Do the general public thank you for whatever your job does to help keep their lives going, in whataver capacity that might entail? Likely not. You're being paid to do a job, period. So are the Devs, period. Whether you thank them or not, they're going to continue to do what puts money in their pockets.

It's funny you use the term "Constructive Criticism", because that's mostly what I post. But Constructive Criticism wouldn't be complete without Sarcasm and Pessimism, would it?! heh Of course it wouldn't.

Don't blame me if you're unable to see the correlation between the two.

The Novermber event(s) are awesome. I only have one concern. There is a bug when fighting the kings. If a player gets swallowed right before a King is killed that player in gets stuck in the stomach of the dead toad. That player is also denied being flagged for the reward for helping to defeat that particular king. Please fix this.

My thanks to Locke for answering my call, but alas I now have to redo that fight to get flagged, bummer. :(

Constructive Criticism has nothing to do with pessimism or sarcasm, infact that's the opposite of it's purpose. You're supposed to be criticizing while adding input that would help someone do better. Usually, people don't respond well to sarcasm and insults, and it doesn't make them work any harder or better, so by adding in your sarcastic remarks you're not helping, therefor it's not Contructive, it's Destructive. Nice try though.

Wow! impressive King Burun quests, done #2,3, and 4.

i saw a few problems, there were some cheaters camped and log off by portal gate before going in, as soon the green text goes public, those few guys just appeared and went to stole few king's hides and then left. this making our quest ruined.

make a change regarding on hides pick up, by adding a flagged to be "must be interact with quest to pick up" as long that you did combat the king a little or major damages.

all those mages, archers, and melees did there job for 20-40 mins depending the size of fellows (2-3 full fellows).

this will make cheaters frustrated and not able to pick up the hide unless dealt some damages to be flagged. (think like flagged at Coffin of darkness with the staff of nullification) as long it said in green texture that you had dealt "critical" hit.
as for Burun Kings (KuKuur), it doesnt have to be critical hits to be flagged, but need to hurt it or even tried with life spells (harms, drains, or martyr). this will prevent someone just log in and run and grab the hide to grief some folks shorten with not getting the hides they work hard for. (make the hides from current kings, instead from 4 hrs old or prevous king(s) all flagged expired once the new king respawned, so the jumpers cant able to pick up.

then it would be enough for everyone to claim their prize, even if it is 4-5 full team fellows. (portal to king's room should registered how many gamers got inside to fight the kings) it will prevent the jumpers. make the cheaters go home empty handed.

ok so this really isn't specific to the Novermber event but is something that has been p*ss*ng me, and several folks I know, off for months.

The guardians of the temples of learning and forget: can y'all do something about the sticky area for turn in of herbs. It is truely a hit and miss affair. Sometimes item taken on the first time others on the tenth. Often trying to use the same area you were successful with last time doesn't work.

so if you'd pass this on to the folks that keep the minor of list of things to look into tweeking it would be appreciated cause fixing this would be a major reduction in aggravation.

In the end, a great patch, lots of fun, but lots of frustration and swelling of the squelch list. The first time I've considered unsuscribing since more than a year. DONT FORCE US TO GROUP, IT RUINS YOUR GREAT WORK. If we liked grouping, we wouldn't be playing AC in the first place, heh.

so far so good, the kings are a fantastic addition- ty turbine.

the random rewards are kinda screwy, i mean, you spend an hour killing this big steroid infested frog king and get no xp, and a bag of ss, that will blow up 1/3 of the time when trying to embue. But that is my only gripe.

Oh! by the way, turbine, ever thought of making a movie out of AC, bowtrox or Tro-Frazz could be the star...hehee, j/k, but the movie idea is grand...

Ok like I said above love the King thing. Well untill King 6:)
It may just be me but I think king 6 is too much of a challenge?
It takes forever, You need more than 2 fellows imo to even try it. Tis not always easy to get that many together for that long. The triple time spawn at the king is a little much, since the king himself is more than enough to kill the group your with:)

If you die at King your SOL. Unless you have l/p & a hour to open the portal back up. Last nights Quest I died the first 20 mins in with the king, Logged to watch a movie (2hr) got back & my group was just getting done. They said they had him down to 30% & he went back up to full health.

I've spent over 10 hours on this quest alone & have failed everytime.

It could be I'm just a gimp I guess but I'm a very frustrated Gimp.

My feedback is simple, and this goes for not only November event but also the recent earlier months:

Basically all new content is aimed for high level (126+) and/or large fellows. This is not good at all. If you continue this path there will be no enjoiment for people that dont want or dont have the time to be super-uber. Also only adding quest that requires large fellows is not very wise in a time where there are less and less playing toons on the server.

AC:s big advatage to other games (especially AC2) has been that there has been so much content for players of ALL levels and also a decent chance for a solo player to advance to the very highest level in a decent amount of time. Don't spoil this. Continue making new fun quests and content for all levels of players. If you think there already is enough for lower levels/solo players, so delete some older quests and create some new quests instead. Keep the game interested for all players.

PS. No, I am not a "low" level player, and yes I can solo most of the quests in the game.

I personally believe that awardig dolls to all of your players was a throw away gift. You have done that, doing it again means that you do not value your customers.

I also believe that you have missed a great opportunaity. YOu have numerous character/toons that have creations daytes in Novemr and Decemebr 1999. I believe that you should have rewarded those characters - not the subscribers, those specific characters with a gift - a special gift.

The thing that I am suggesting is an aegis witht he number 5 "in red" that is not ivoryable and is not transferable. It could have no defense but would come with a Brogard's Defiance on it. Every year, based on the starting date of the character you would add another 7th level spell to the mix, the same for all. Since it is not transferable, what it would be used for is to identify the players and the toons that have supported you for 5 years - the ones that have been around since the beginning. Since the number changes each year, new players would always know who the players are that supported you.

Of course, as slightly less old players arrive at that magic 5 date, they would get their shield. But I would bet that there are not really that many characters with start dates in 1999, that are still available to be rewarded with a gift like this. and since it is not transferabble, there would be no want-to-bes either.

Qyet, you are missing one important point. It is not the TOONS that are important, its the players. If you start rewarding toons for being in game a certain period of time, people, like me, dont have the posibility to delete all their toons and create new ones, when ever they want. For fun, for excitement, for better templates - what ever the reasons is.

No, no. You didn't think at all when you posted. We are so many out there that have played this game for years even if our toons might say "created ... 2004 ...". The 5th anniversary gift from Turbine was given correctly to all toons, since it was not technically posible to give eg. one doll per account.

Why does the edit button say "Edit/Delete Message" when it doesn't give you the option to delete? duh
