"I don't like the looks of this place at all. Remind me of what we're doing here?" Asked Blayz, the light of his torch piercing the inky darkness of the ancient cave, glistening off the disgustingly moist walls.
"I told yer, ya wanna be in the Player Slayers guild ya gotta prove yerself. Get it?" The other man, an OG mage by the name of Marshall spat as he walked ahead of him. The place had a foul stench about it, and odd sounds would creak and moan throughout the depths of it as the wind howled outside.
"This be the place where they buried the Nightmare Prince." He continued walking ahead of Blayz.
"The Nightmare Prince!" Blayz gasped as the feared name escaped his lips. "Listen, how bout I jump off greenspire or run through the evis lair without any armor huh?" He turned as though ready to make his way back to the entrance before Marshall grabbed him by the neck of his red GSA and pulled him back nearly causing him to fall.
"Not so fast. Yer aren't quitting now are ye? Listen, all ye gots to do is dig up the Prince who be long dead, and steal one of his teeth. Then yer in. Tests yer loyalty it ders." He continued walking down the mouth of the cave which seemed more like a throat than a natural formation, and Blayz followed slowly behind him, his eyes flashing back and forth as though expecting some unseen foe to leap from the shadows and devour them both.
"I don't think this is a good idea. I heard alot of terrible legends about Ilumini. Namely that he can't die and he steals souls. I was just a noob when he killed Mogana and destroyed the Less Than Three clan, but still." He said, his voice breaking as though swallowed by the cave. The two continued until they reached a large chamber which crawled and moved on its own as if alive almost sending the both of them running in terror. The light of Blayz's torch however, illuminated the darkness revealing thousands of tiny black worms which crawled from thousands of little holes in the walls and floor of the place falling about.
"I don't like this. I don't like this at all. I'm not sure I wanna join Player Slayers after all. I'm thinking Valor of Runeguards is more my speed ya know?" He was cut short by Marshall.
"Dern't be such a noob. Ilumini be long dead, killed by the Envoy's themselves. He ain't be coming back from this death. No one ever does."
"What do you mean killed by the Envoys?" Asked Blayz, his feet squishing thousands of tiny worms on the cave floor as he walked to the spot where the Nightmare Prince had been buried in a shallow grave. There, placed in the soil was a rickety wooden sign that read, "Hatefully lived, hatefully died, shallowly buried and no one cried."
"Aye, twas Sweet Mary who set up an ambush fer him. Took three Envoys huntin' em down. At last they caughts im' in Lacuna, and drove three envoy ban swords through his body before he died. He's dead as can be, aint no comin' back from that."
The pair began to dig in the crushing darkness moving aside earth and worms until after a short time they found his body rotting in the shallow grave, feasted on by the thousands of tiny worms that called this place home. His face had long turned to liquid and melted away, and the empty black sockets of his eyes glimmered with movement from within.
"I think I'm gonna be sick." Said Blayz, running to a corner of the cave where he deposited that evenings dinner.
"Ha! Ain't nothin' disgustin here. I see you ain'ts been on a date with Lucretia, or this twould seem tame by comparison. Sides, we all join him in death eventually. Everyone dies. Nothing to be afraid of ere. He's dead." Marshall kicked the moist corpse in contempt to show it was harmless.
"Ah, Mr. Fancypants nightmare king. Ha! King o' worms says I!" He said and kicked the body again, his foot bursting through the decaying rib cage and becoming lodged in the decomposing lungs. "Ack! Give me some elp here Blayz, I gots me foot caught!"
"I ain't going near that thing!" Said blayz, wiping the last remains of saliva from his lips.
"I tell ye he's dead, look at im he..." His voice was cut off suddenly by the hand of the corpse which had lunged up grabbing his throat and pulling him to the ground. The remains of Ilumini's face smiled in a horrible grin and he leaned forward until his face was mere inches from Marshall's. His voice was calm and polite, and filled with the curning of the worms that filled his lungs.
"Now now gentlemen. You're being loud enough to wake the dead." Marshall was dead a moment later and the remains of his soul was pulled into the body of the Nightmare Prince as he rose to his feet, Blayz screaming madly only a few feet from him.
Ilumini's face began to grow once more, the worms pulling together from the floors and walls and melding into his body to form new flesh. He wiped his shoulder as though brushing aside some dust. "It would seem I'm back. Can't keep a good dog down!" He said walking calmly towards Blayz.
That night the only sounds that came from the mouth of the cave in Cragstone were screams, the sound of ripping flesh, and an unmistakably evil laughter.
