Request Clariification on IE version

I have a question on IE version. The billing migration post says that IE version 5.5 with 128 encryption is sufficient, but the log in screen says that version 6 is required. Which one is correct?

to be on the safe side, I would suggest getting the latest version of 6.

According to the letter to the player, AC will check your internet explorer and ask to upgrade the internet explorer when it does not meet the migration requirements.

So if you have not been asked to upgrade and you turned on SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 you will be fine.

We had originally thought that 5.5 with 128-bit encryption would be sufficient for the launcher and migration, but we discovered later that 6.0 is required.

It's important to note that once you've migrated, you can play AC without ever starting up IE ever again. The launcher uses back-end IE code but it never actually needs the browser to be open.

Thank you for the reply Ibn! Hope the move went well. :) Please ask the engineering staff for the 'latest and greatest' about the following questions for me. I hate to be nag, but I maintain other players' machines for them and it would help figure out how to make everything smooth.

1. Please amend the Turbine docuements. Adding a revision number and date is not a bad idea. :)

2. When does this have to happen? I am rather busy with the holidays. I would rather do the upgrade after the January 1 than before.

3. Will TE support Win 98se?

4. What are the general browser specifications that TE is looking for? IE 6 with DirectX 9.x with win 98se/2k/XP ok?

My guess is as long as you have IE6 with the latest patches then you should be good to go.
