"I use to fly my Ornithoptor around lake Tricynid and take pictures of the Demel Spires. My family and I use to take trips to the Carthonid Mountains and visit the little Umberlings there and buy umberglyphs to read. Until I was whisked off to Dereth... and all that changed. Now I had to learn new skills and battle to survive in a primative magic-based world with all new devices. It's quite a change, and I do miss driving my Enthic Explorer vehicle around on the bottom of the ocean with my brother."

As I look around here in Dereth, I see chunks and pieces from various other races brought here by the portal magic Asheron opened, or other beings. Empyrean, Burrun, Falacot (tho I believe they're native to Dereth?) and other ancient artifacts and devices. Those Virindi have all sorts of technology they brought off-world...

Yet I have yet to find anything Isparian in nature, save for the living beings like myself. I once heard a tale of a man with a chainsaw attached to his hand that fell from the sky along with an 'oldsmobile' and a tree from his world, but it was long since passed. Where are my buildings? Where are my vehicles, my statues, my artifacts? Where are the things that remind me of Ispar, for something... something must of come through with us...

Well... you have Ursuins and Rats, what more do you want? :p

As far as things that remind you of Ispar, most of our towns are comrpised of architecture patterned off of those found on Ispar (I don't imagine derelict wooden thatch roof buildings would have survived hundreds of years of no maintenance :))

Vermin! We get vermin, heheh. So Isparians were more like the dark-ages people in terms of culture? I kinda hoped we had chemistry and science down, seeing as how we're making related things in Dereth now. Alchemy at least.

Well since you asked.... yeah! I would like to see more of Ispar pass through at some point. Since people are still supposedly coming through to heed the call (hehe) would Ispar not of grown in technology as we have in Dereth?

You also have to consider that the folks who wander through the portals are a random sampling of the populace. How many folks do you know personally (IRL) who can build a fusion reactor or an airplane? Or even a toothbrush? :p

If a portal appeared in your neighborhood and random ppl walked through it, would they even be able to construct crude huts, purify water, hunt for food, etc., when they got stuck on the other side? Of course, every now and then sheer randomness WOULD suck in a genius here and there--ala Numuhdira. And if you were LUCKY, the genius would be nice enough to help you get civilization started up. But if you werent, they might just decide to assassinate your ruler and try to take over....

Ah, but Ulgrim is an empyrean so he didn't come through the portal. Or maybe not an empyrean, perhaps he's a god unto mortals... Certainly he is the most powerful man alive, and all should tremble before him! Have you seen how many titles he has? ^_~
