Hello my fellow AC players and Happy Holidays to each of you :)
After an exchange of PMs with one of the AC devs, it was suggested I post the following in this forum. It's an idea I've had knocking around on my hard drive for some time regarding a potential new story arc. Please read and offer your opinions below.
THank you,
Gray

Somewhere deep in the mountains of northern Osteth, a portal shimmered into existence. This is itself was not unusual, as portals were constantly shifting planes of existence all around Dereth. No, what made this portal unusual was its drab, khaki coloration.
Nothing save a few Drudge Seraphs (lost from their mates in the Valley of Death) were near to see this strange portals arrival. Instinctively, the feline creatures turned as one and ran from the scene with utmost haste. It was almost as if they could sense the malevolence, the sheer magnitude of the evil that dwelt within.
Tall and lean, the one-eyed warrior staggered wearily into the glade 2 days later, as twilight began casting its lengthy shadows across the landscape. He had been engaged in a running battle with several Lugian Juggernauts most of the afternoon.
Only sheer willpower kept Cyclops the Fearless moving after repeatedly being struck by the boulders thrown by his adversaries.
Spying the portal, fatigue vanished as if it had never been and the swordsman straightened to his full height. Hefting his travel pack, Cyclops grimaced at its light weight, then shrugged. Dropping the pack at his feet, the warrior removed the remaining 3 healing kits and attached them to his belt. Holding his shield and sword at the ready, he entered and was quickly engulfed by the weightlessness of portal space.
Hundreds of feet below the surface, a primal intellect awoke as its senses detected an intruder. In the stygian blackness, it flexed key muscles until assured of full mobility. As full consciousness returned, an involuntary mental warning was issued from the creature. So powerful was this telepathy that both monsters and warriors as far south as Candeth Keep paused in their actions, shuddering as waves of pure malevolence washed over them.
On his island, Ulgrim the Unpleasant staggered as the mental energy reached him. Reaching for his ale, he turned to his guest and said, I think Dereth is faced with a new challenge, something far more evil than BZ, Gaerlan, Martine and the Ancient Queen combined.
Draining his wineglass, Antius stood and prepared to portal home. Aye, and I need to let Her Majesty know at once. Then, he was gone.
