I've been thinking this over for some time now, and I think I know what happened/s to Martine. I think Martine is the Imperator of AC2, the one who was at the battle with Asheron and BZ...well just a thot, discuss away.

God, I hope not. Bad enough BZ was given some ridiculous "he's dead, no he isn't" ending in AC1 just to be brought back and killed off in AC2's *introduction*. I'd hate to see another AC1 character's resolution ruined just to create the most useless of the already-useless Kingdoms.

Martine either died destroying Gaerlan's citadel or went home to Ispar (take your pick). It should be left at that.

Do you mean the original Virindi Imperator or the new Imperator in AC2? The new one is a Lugian. Personally, I think Aerbax is the Imperator in AC2.

What evidence do you have to support your theory, or is it just speculation?

I think we won't ever know what really happened to Martine. I feel that Orion left it intentionally blank for us to fill in the details with our imagination. Sometimes that can be effective.

There's actually two of them in AC2, which is why I asked. (The one referenced in Vaults, and the one as part of the storyline earlier this year.)

The problem with Aerbax is... he's a chaotic Virindi. Allied with Ler Rhan. It just doesn't fit in with the meaning of the Dominion. Why would a chaotic virindi become the leader of the Dominion, which is the essential opposite of the Shadow/Chaos kingdom? And, the Imperator was apart of the alliance of the three kingdoms before the devastation, right? Since when does Aerbax ally himself with humans, and have human followers? Just doesn't fit.

Perhaps it is the Virindi half of Martine that is the Imperator.

Martine sacrificed himself to bring down the citadel. What do you think Asheron's saying 'his sacrifice shall not be in vain' could possibly mean besides that?

Asheron doesn't know what happened to Martine either... :)
