Your error is typical of a firewall problem. Check your modem manual. Many modems have built in firewalls these days. It is also possible that your new ISP is preventing AC from working. This is a common complaint for Comcast users.
What operating system are you using? If you are using Windows XP - service pack 2 - you have a firewall provided by Microsoft as part of the service pack.
More information about your setup would be helpful, modem, ISP, type of connection, using a router etc.

thx for your reply.
well, im playing from england, on BT yahoo 1mg broadband, with a bt voyager 205 modem, and win xp.
im guessing your write about something somehwere stopping the ports required by AC, i just wish i knew what, and how to get it fixed ;).

Your modem has a build in router and firewall that is blocking your access to AC.
Here is a link to a page on your modem:
http://portforward.com/btvoyager/205adsl-portforwarding.htm
which should help in the configuration.
You need to forward the ports described in the following link:
http://www.fuzeqna.com/asheronscall/consumer/kbdetail.asp?kbid=148
If you are a complete novice and you can not understand how to do this after reading those two links. Then you are going to need to call Turbine's customer service department at 781-407-4010 or your ISP for help walking you through the configuration. Another possibility is finding a friend who lives near you that is willing to help you with this.

I suggest you contact Turbine customer service:

It has got to be a port issue or setting issue - so you either have another firewall, you did not configure the modem correctly, there some other setting like your lan settings, AC client setting or a problem with the service that BT is providing.
For example you mentioned XP as your operating system. XP service pack 2 comes with a firewall that will have to be configured or shut off. Are you running service pack 2?

I had exactly the same problem when I received a new modem from my DSL provider which did away with some of my settings. All you have to do is create a new Internet Connection. It seems the Asherons Call Servers need the IP to log you on it worked for me
If using XP Goto START Accessories Communications then New Connection Wizard and follow the prompts also create the shortcut for your Desktop.
When you want to log into the game you must double click this icon to get the IP identification then you log on to Asherons Call.
Even though you can do email and log on to the Web it seems that you need this IP identity to log on to the Game hope this helps it worked for me

DSL providers usually have a place where it shows your status is up/down and where you can change settings such as firewall and others. Check with them
