Sometimes I think Turbine has forgotten about us Veterans of the game and then they do something like this and I think geez how stupid I was :)

Great Idea for Member Rewards I would love to participate in it :)

Q. How do I join Turbine’s beta rewards program?

A. The beta rewards are a benefit we offer to our most loyal customers. To join you will need to be actively subscribed to a Turbine game. To be eligible for one of our betas through this program, you will need to be a member in the program for six consecutive months in good standing

Taken from the Faq... It doesn't answer the question.

I have my reservations. EVERY active AC1 account was supposed to recieve an invite to beta test AC2. I had two accounts at that time and never recieved an invite on either. You/They were placing invites on magazine cover CD's before beta ended yet I never recieved one.
That and the launch fiasco jaded my view on Turbine/MS's beta seletion system. So much so that I made a vow that I would never try AC2 if you paid me.

you will need to be a member in the program for six consecutive months in good standing
So The past 5 years count for nothing? :(

An invitation to the Member Rewards program, or an invitation to beta?

You don't need an invite to join Member Rewards. Just log in to your Turbine account at billing.turbinegames.com and click "Join the Turbine Beta Rewards Program".

As for beta invites, well, we'll have to wait and see about those. :)

I think it's farcical, honestly.

Some of us had active subscription lengths of 3-4 years, and simply because we're not active THIS MONTH, some dude that got started 6 months ago is now somehow higher up on the totem pole.

Loyalty? More like backstabbing.

I dunno if I'd call it backstabbing, (no personal attacks)

However I do agree somewhat. I had to cancel my subscription last month due to financial difficulties. It was AC, or my water bill. I chose water. I have defended Turbine countless times here, I love Turbine and believe in Turbine, but because I had to pay bills, I won't get into beta. Oh well, I can accept that, but I think your plans could have been thought out a lil bit more.

Both should work -- not sure why billing.turbine.com wouldn't be accessible from outside. DNS propagation issues still, most likely.

To qualify for the Turbine Member Rewards program, members must be registered for a Turbine world through the company's new billing system. In addition, they must be actively subscribed to at least one Turbine service for at least six consecutive months in good standing.

How is it going to work for throne of destiny beta since according to your program nobody from AC1 will actually be elgible since we just started turbine services 3 months or less ago?

Throne of Destiny beta selection isn't using the Member Rewards program. The program is for the beta of future releases from Turbine.

Well %&*^, that's the one I was hoping would draw from the veteran ranks.
I hope that feedback from your veteran players will carry more weight where an expansion pack is concerned than some "lucky beta noob" with no clue to the games history or its place in the fantasy morpg market.

Bah . . . I signed up all my accounts with the hope of being able to help improve the game I already love and play. You should put this disclaimer on that page so others don't think they are signing up for a chance at ToD testing.

Just because they aren't using the rewards program doesn't mean they aren't going to choose from long time players.

> I hope that feedback from your veteran players will carry more weight ...

It doesn't now. I don't see how the expansion is going to be any different.

I have tried multiple DNS servers ranging from Sprint Canada, Rogers Cable and some private ones I have access to and none of them resolve that name.

Querying your own DNS server does not produce a result either.

nice idea, shame it had to be down talked already on the meo and ddo boards, saying it's not that special to prevent people from getting angry there.

hopefully we are going to see more rewards from it in the future.

I was not able to find the path to sign up for it and I live in California. I had to pm Paraduck to get an url. It is not obvious how to get there.

Another thing. I played in beta2. I don't badmouth Turbine on any boards, let alone their own boards. Now can I play beta for ToD? :D

Ok, I just used the above link and joined with all 3 of my accounts... I just hope the 3rd account, that was opened day 1 of the Turbine billing system (When New accounts were first allowed to open under the new billing and login system) makes it under the 6 months limit... would be funny if it missed it...

I doublechecked with our technology folks -- billing.turbine.com hasn't been set up, a delay with getting the security certificates properly configured I believe. So this was my mistake, billing.turbinegames.com is the correct hostname for the time being, I'll edit the initial post to reflect this.

I think LongJoey expressed it best so far, "Toying with beta play is like playing with my emotions..... :) "

Initially I read Ibn's reply as; rewards program is for being a loyal subscriber, however ToD beta won't be using rewards program ergo they won't be using loyal subscribers.
Glad to hear I read it wrong.

I've been playing for 5 years with 3 subscriptions. How do you pick who is in the beta and who isn't? I've beta tested AC and AC2 before, but I haven't heard word one about any ToD testing. Could you explain how the signup for this works? Do I need to know or be related to a Turbine employee? Is this one of those "If you send us a free pizza" type deals?

Whine, Whine, Whine!
They start a new and cool program and half the stuff we reply with is whining!

I was in beta for ac1, and have been a loyal member in retail since it's launch date. I was not invited to ac2 beta, so what?

I may not be invited to TOD beta, so what? Their member rewards is for upcoming games! Just the fact that they created it shows that they are making the effort to reward those of us who stay loyal to them. I say YEAH!

Nothing is ever perfect, but they didn't have to create these boards, didn't have to create member rewards, and certainly don't deserve to have to listen to as much whining as goes on in the forums(not just this thread but the others)!

We have a game we love, an attentive and devoted staff, monthly FREE updates to game content, and now we also have a better chance to be picked for upcoming beta's!

Remember all that you have before you complain about what you don't have.

Sorry to be so negative at you, but show more love and less hate for Turbine when they try to do a good thing.

I very much agree that there is too much whining on these boards, but a lot of the posts in this thread are good points.

What about those of us who have played AC for long periods of time and NEVER even TRIED any other online games, but don't have AC RIGHT NOW????????????????????????????????????

I accept that I somehow seem to miss EVERY event and story arc, and all the cool stuff, but this sucks. Some of us are COMPLETELY LOYAL to AC, but aren't made of money and therefore get screwed once again because we are unfortunate enough to not have the funds for AC at this very moment in time. If you had done this about 4 months or so ago then I would have been in....... So bad timing and not having enough money screw me once again.

Maybe I should just give up and save my money, at least boredom is free and most of all will never disappoint me. (who am I kidding??? I couldn't ever quit
AC, it's way too fun and addictive.)

But it still sucks and I will still be extremely mad until the devs at least give a second glance to this. I have always maintained that devs are people just like the rest of us and are prone to errors just the same. I do not blame you for your judgements right or wrong. I am pleading with you guys from one human to other humans, at least consider an alternative.

( What about anyone who has played AC for a TOTAL of a year??? )
Wouldn't that work???

I think the idea is great. I agree it lacks in showing thanks to those who have supported Turbine in many ways. Some of the veterans like myself who have been around since AC original beta testing. Those who have served as liason's for AC in many ways such as advocates. I admit I havent played 100% of the time and have taken vacations from AC. In the end I always return. Thats just my 2 cents.

It would be nice to beta but i'm just looking forward to the expansion being realsed and hopefully alot of are old friends that with seen disapear reapear!

And alot more new players arrive! Wouldn't it be great to see the log on screen saying theres adleast 1200 players logged in every day again?

I say it all sucks.

But for one reason.

I didn't have an account for the last couple months, cause I had to move. :(

And I been playin' since Beta! *cry*

And that makes me a saaad frozzy. :(

I've played for for the past 5 years... and took a break for school the fall semester, yet someone who just started 6 months ago (good timing) is more 'loyal' because of their timing?

Maybe we're all not understanding this right, but that kinda seems like the newcomers get more credit than the true loyalists.

Yeah -- I love Turbine, and honestly, if I see a game on the shelf when trying to find a new one, that has "Turbine Entertainment" on it, I would buy it.

Some people may not like the company, but I love it. If not for Turbine, AC would never have existed. This may be just a game, but it's helped me through some troubling times in my life, not as an escape, but just something to keep me busy, instead of going out and doing something stupid I'd play AC. May sound sad to some people, but it's true -- I never put AC in front of real life, but it gave me an alternative to going out and being an idiot.

Yet because I moved across country, I'm not loyal.

*sigh*

Too little TOO LATE!!

We already have ingame ability to have 50 more health, 100 more mana and stam. If we die or log we loose it... (soooo afraid to actually give us something, arent you) what you offer with the expansion is too little and has no imagination. For customers who have stayed with you for 5+ years.. it should be something wonderful that says.. THANKS FOR STAYING!!
For new comers, what you already have in mind will do.

As just reported... Turbine and IGN have teamed up to bring us the public beta of Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach. This is your chance to be in the official beta and play the game before anyone else. Waste no time and reserve your slot today!

So what exactly is the point of Turbine Rewards Program? Like many others, I signed up for it but now we're left out of beta testing Turbine products

Yes, it seems bizarre that my membership of fileplanet/ign gives me a better or the same chance as under the Turbine Member Rewards Scheme AND I pay significantly more for my subs to Turbine.

That said from my understanding someone who has just registered for the beta today has the same chance as me despite - 4 active AC1 subs, postings on the DDO board, being entered for the beta for a LONG time now and an active sub to fileplanet.

Or did I miss something?

Pick it up for exclusive screenshots, a preview of our first post-launch content update and a chance to enter the Beta! Each copy will have a key inside the magazine, and five thousand of those keys will give a lucky reader access to the Beta! All this and the first look at dragons too!"

I agree there should be a reward for those of us that have been playing longer than 6 months... thats kind of sad.. it took 4 years for a rewards program to come out with a rewards program in Ultima Online.. but they were GREAT prizes... I have been playing since the day you brought AC to the shelves.. so 6 years of playtime should get me a better prize than an easy 6 months... you should have prizes for each YEAR we have been playing... 6 months being areward everyone gets... 1 year... rare item or so.. 6 years being 6 times greater than the 1st... give all us veterans credit where we deserve in detication and love. Seasons Greetings.

P.S.> ALSO, considering the pain and heartache the game gave the first couple of years having only level 6 buffs that lasted 15 minutes for example.. thats just one of MANY MANY difficult tasks... earlier years of mmorpg games tend to HURT a couple years before they Start to truely be a Great Game. But i do confess I did still love the game back then but I wouldnt if I had known what layed ahead and the stupid times wasted for exp so hardly earned... Thanks for listening.

That reminds me too how hard it used to be level to the 30's back in pre-Bael'Zharon. It was lugian Citadel or bust. I agree with the last post, and an account active for a complete year should be rewarded something a little better. Pack dolls have gotten pretty old.......

Thank you for choosing to join the Turbine Beta Rewards Program. This program is our way of thanking our most loyal customers - by granting preferred access to future betas for our online games!

To qualify, you'll need to have an active subscription to any Turbine game, and keep that subscription continuously active for at least six months from the day you join the rewards program. After that, you'll be eligible to be invited to join a special group of beta-qualified players. The members of the selected group will be among the first to play our upcoming titles.

There's no fee for the program, but since we want to limit this opportunity to only our most loyal players, you must be an active Turbine subscriber to join and to claim a spot in the beta rewards group if you are selected.

WE ARE GOING ON ALMOST A YEAR!!! is it over?
(asks a customer with 4 accounts going steady for more than 5 years)
I'm about to drop one, I think.

Frelorn, you might want to consider just closing this off, since it's obvious it refers to a program that never got off the ground.

It's just inciting misunderstandings at this point.

Shut it off, take the reward signup link off our account management page, and let it die gracefully please.
