What's DMZ?

I thought i knew what it was but i don't think i do can anyone tell me what DMZ is and how i enable it?

DMZ = De-Militaried Zone. In networking it means placing a computer system outside the protection of a firewall. Article on it here. (http://compnetworking.about.com/cs/networksecurity/g/bldef_dmz.htm)

Much better to try and open ports first before using a DMZ. These ports (http://www.fuzeqna.com/asheronscall/consumer/kbdetail.asp?kbid=148&) are ones you might need to open in your firewall/router to play AC.
