How does magic d work?

I was fighting a level 150 mage guy with my level 70 mage and i resisted him 6 times in a row, I was wondering how that happened.

A psychotic streak of luck. I've seen it as well on a few occassions. I remember one such event back in the AB wars days. With no real magic defense on a level 40 melee, I resisted a level 60 mage a few times in a row lol. I could swear there's a weird bug in there sometimes, but it's kind of hard to tell, and I probably didn't see it even once a year.
