View Full Version : Uninstalling MSN games seems to have broken AC

I was doing some disk cleanup the other day, and started uninstalling things I didn't need anymore.

Two of the things I uninstalled were "Asheron's Call Billing Migration" (I've already migrated over to Turbine billing, so I didn't need that anymore) and MSN Games. (Or maybe it was The Zone games. Dont' remember exactly now.)

These are the only two things I uninstalled that would have had anything to do with AC.

Since then, I cannot log into AC using the Turbine AC launcher. At first, the I clicked on the AC Launcher icon and got the "Cannot find this program" message. It eventually found another instance (I think) of the same program in the Backup directory.

Now when I try it, it tells me that it can't run the launcher because it can't find "Launcher.ini".

Anybody run into this? More importantly, does anybody know of a fix?

What you need to do is download and install this:
http://download.turbine.com/ac1/ac_billing_migrator.exe

This download includes the launcher software. According to the notes on the Turbine web site. This download is only the launcher. The name leads folks like me to go - Duh - Isn't this the migrator and launcher?

Whether it is the launcher or the launcher and the migrator, it really does not matter. You have to have it to play. It is not like it takes up much space. Yeah I know the add/remove programs says itt akes hundreds of megabytes in size but that is bug in how it the size gets registered.

Ah so.

Well, thankfully I still had the original download in my Downloads directory, so I just reinstalled.

Fixed it right up. Thanks.
