Step by Step: How to get your client & key for ToD:Preview

1) Get fileplanet ID (does not have to be a paid ID, though paid accounts will download faster) and login to fileplanet: http://www.fileplanet.com

2) Get Client & Install http://www.fileplanet.com/section.aspx?s=101810&v=0

3) Get your beta key from fileplanet (make sure to use the account you just created/logged into from fileplanet: http://www.fileplanet.com/betacenter/asheronscall/signup/

4) Login to Turbine Billing and activate the pre-order key for your account: http://billing.turbinegames.com/index.php?page_id=47

5) Update your correct CC and billing info if you did it correctly you should get the following message:

Please print a copy of this receipt for your records.

Your subscription to Asheron's Call: Throne of Destiny Preview™ has been successfully added. You may now log into the game!

Welcome to the ACTD Free Preview. You will not be charged for access to this preview. Credit card information is required to verify your identity, but will not be used for billing.


6) Login, Enjoy :D

Got the same thing, and now I can't even get into my regular AC. It says "Invalid Ticket".

So not only did it screw up the preview, but since I used my AC account, I can't even play that.

So far, awesome.

Turbine Servers seem to be a little bit crowded currently.

I sucessfully got my key from filplanet, the download, subscribed sucessfully. Everything a little bit slow but without problems.

my first problem came up when trying to login first time. launcher told my i have no valid subscription. But after severall tries even this went fine.

So ppl ... dont give up when a first error is popping up. It works!!

Why not you kno have a better dl source than fileplanet so everyone can dl it, or is this to keep lag issues down.

Im getting the key errors too. I'm in the process of calling, but have been waiting on the phone line for approx 15 minutes already.

EDIT: I just got off the phone with one of the nicest tech support guys I have ever encountered, and I have encountered A LOT of them :o . Unfortunately the only thing they can do to resolve this issue is send us a new key via email. He did recommend that I wait a little while before trying to use the new key so that this doesn't happen again, due to the high traffic currently.

I will definately wait until late this evening to use the new key. My minutes are running low on my phone ;) .

I have a fileplanet paid sub so I have no idea what the lines are like but typically i'd say you'll still d/l faster from FP than most other sites, seeing as the size and sheer amount of people downloading at once...

Better check that new key. After waiting on hold for 45 minutes those retards sent me the very same key. I am not the only one.

Crimson-ghost Why are you assuming all these people are making mistakes? The system is screwed, just because you got lucky doesn't mean its working properly!

I never once assumed anyone was making mistakes, you're the one with assumptions here ;)

I merely pointed out steps on how to do it properly and I know these work because i've been ingame many times now and this is EXACTLY how I did it.

You might have errors, do I know how to fix them? No
What I do know is the right order to do things in to get set up, period.

i really need help. my problem is after i enter my login info, it bypasses my being able to choose a world and goes straight to frostfell. i can't stop it, it's an automatic choice.

Sounds like you are using the desktop shortcut that the Turbine Launcher created for you when you were on the server list and decided;
"I play on Frostfell for Asheron's sake - don't make me choose servers from a list again!" .. :)

Start Turbine Launcher again. From the startmenu or something.
(If you deleted the shortcut that would take you all the way through server selection etc).

Errr....I need a clue. Following, CG's steps, I was able to set up a file planet account and actually download the preview client.

However, when I try to fetch a key, this is what happens:

1) I go to this website: http://www.fileplanet.com/betacenter/asheronscall/signup/

and fill out all the required fields and then get directed to this website:

https://www.gamespyid.com/index.aspx?siteid=6&returl=http://www.fileplanet.com/betacenter/asheronscall/signup/

2) I have tried two things; 1) signing in with the account that I used to download the client, and 2) trying to fill out all the fields on this second website. Neither appears to work. If I log in using the login box at the upper right hand corner, it redirects me to website 1.

If I try filling out the fields, I get name/email already logged in error.

Anyhoo, I finally solved the problem. Apparently I had some Gamespy/IGN cookies blocked. When I unblocked them, I eventually got my "key".
