UI bug :: please read

Whenever I try to do anything related to user-interface the game hangs. For example when i press enter to type text it hangs for 5 seconds...once ive brought up the prompt and type "a" it takes 5 seconds for the A to appear in the chat bar. In character creation and the login screen, any button i press takes 20 seconds to load the next page, Any time i try to change my character IE slide the bar for focus from 10-100 it hangs when i try to select my race it hangs, point is the UI hangs, BAD. I know for a fact it isn't my machine or the lack thereof. I have a Nvidia gforce 5200 Video card and a athlon 2700 processor with a gig of ram...and all the latest drivers. Is AC:ToD not applicable with this hardware or something...Oh regular gameplay is fine i can move and it doesnt hang at all and i had a ping of about 200 with my cable. ONLY USER INTERFACE HAS A PROBLEM.

Some suggestions:

Usually when I see something like that, I tend to start pointing the finger at adware programs running in the background stealing cpu resources. By any chance have you checked your task manager too see if any odd programs are running the in background? Maybe run Spybot and Ad-Aware and have it scan your system?

Have you tried shutting down unneeded services and also unneeded programs from the taskmanager list, to see if the game is having conflicts with a particular background application or service? Antivirus software is one of the first things to kill when troubleshooting something like this.

If all of that checks out, have you gone into dxdiag and turned down hardware accelerations on your sound and video and rechecked the game performance?



Since you made the statement (I know for a fact it isn't my machine or the lack thereof), I am pretty sure you have done all of this...but it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.
