View Full Version : Lore thread
It seems to have disappeared, I am working on getting it back if at all possible.
I believe I had read all responses before the thread went poof, if there are future reponses please put them here, I will try to merge the threads when/if I can get the original back.
Many apologies for the confusion.
::Shakefist:: :o
Well, at least you guys know we want lore related events. :)

Looks like some posts are missing from the Threat Blips thread too.
Yes, but those are intentional -- read my post on that thread.
I checked the poll when I got in this morning, it was around 38 yes, 3 no, 1 no opinion. But I would still really like to get it back, one weekend is not enough time to leave a thread like this active.

It was higher than 38 -- I saw it at 54 earlier today.
Your're right I didn't see you're post at first about the post removal. Its too bad you can't stick all those posts onto a locked thread for people to read. And I still think that you're hosed with using Xs and diamonds ;)

Thought I saw it at 59/4/2...something similar...but 38 votes to 2 is enough to speak for AC imo.

I personaly think that if your going to hold a live lore event then it should be annonced ahead of time, and I dont mean 3 mins before it happens either.
And as far as one server getting somethign that another didnt...
Well again I think its an all or none deal.
As few people as possible should be excluded.

Ibn had originally said that they all would get something, just not necessarily the same thing at the same time.
Personally, I prefer my lore to come as it did with Martine's Mask.
There is no single item ingame which is better than that one.
The interactive means of getting the story and having the story told from such a unique perspective is truly beguiling. I've literally spent hours sitting around and playing with that mask.
You should use items like it as "clue" items which lead you onward thru quests (in addition to the paper trail of the rumors).
It would also be very nice indeed if you allowed us some form of hookable bookshelves in which we can put our no drop books from quests. I would love to sit around and read these things but their weight and space requirements inevitably force me to send them to the dead letter office via the town crier.

if this is just storyline or lore, i'd rather it be in the format that it has been in. otherwise it's just a waste of time.
i would focus on adding more pictures/movie..etc.
Would love to see live lore events... have questions answered by the folks themselves... maybe a magic show or something by nuri... anything that adds role play to the game is great... and since from jump it is stated that not all worlds will see the same npcs but you are trying to make it fair theres nothing more we could ask.
please implement this i'm sure it will get lots of player support.

What are the legal ramifications of taking some random folks (privately) from the AC community, training them a bit and giving them the tools required to run ingame events according to some kind of master list of "guidelines" so to speak?
It's not too terribly hard to find folks you'd be able to trust, not to mention do the whole NDA thing with.
Just curious.

If the devs continue to show interest in the game, then the player base will continue to play.
For quite some time now it seems as if the devs are trying to kill AC with kindness, so to speak. Players have been given everything easily...almost as if to say, "Hey, look at all you've got! You've WON AC!" Of course, the implication is that to win, is also to end the game.
Keeping the game off the shelves and refusing to come out with any sort of expansion are also huge hints that the preferential path for AC is a permenant trip back to the lifestone.
AC has a strong and loyal player base. Players leave mostly out of frustration, but invariably they come back. Why? Because when it's new and when there's some work involved in the game play [and a little luck, of course], it's fun. The game is fun because it's one of the best combinations of game play, interface, plot, graphics and community out there.
Please don't kill the game with a magnanimous display of apathy. It has been shown time and again that if the devs show an interest in the game, the player base will surely be there.

Unfortunately that could open MS and Turbine up to the same potential lawsuit as existed with the Advocate/Sentinel program. So very unlikely.

Isn't there something we could sign to make us not able to sue you? Some kind of waiver?

Whether or not there were a lawsuit looming over the whole volunteer malaise, I'm given to suspect that, with good reason, Turbine and MS would be hostile to the idea of handing over control of the lore's "super" characters to the playerbase.
In spite of that, if the idea were to be implemented, would it be possible to have volunteers based in countries other than the US? For instance, not only is the UK not subject to US law, its people are also a good deal less litigious than their American bretheren.

Nope. These rights can't be waived away.

These live lore events are good even if it is not possible to give everyone an equal chance to participate as long as they are just "fun" and don't give any advantage to people that are able to participate.

We can waiver our right to everything here in the UK, Ibn. So really, I encourage you to bestow the control of live lore characters upon those members of the AC playerbase who emanate from the British Isles; not only are we less litigious, we are also infinitely better at ye olde English.
Honestluy, Sir, you can't go wrong with British, no matter what our French neighbours may opine.

If we were playing DAoC, speaking in Olde English might work, you are an Isparian now, they know nothing of this Olde English stuff which you speak. ;)

Ibn if you cant train people to "run" the events, what about kidnapping random people and "buffing" them a bit to act as helpers for the live event team?
Thank you all for your feedback! This was very helpful as we continue our planning for monthly events.
