Would this be a viable thing to implement? New expansion, new discovery by the Arcanum?

It would be easy enough to work in technically, but it has been suggested many times and rejected every previous time.

I think one of the key reasons it has been rejected is that prismatic tapers are currently one of the only reasons some characters even have to go to mages or into towns anymore.
There is the natural "restock" time when all characters must go into town to refill, etc.
The longer players can go between restock times, the longer the towns are without population. Back when the restock time was LOW, players were constantly in and out of towns... it created community. Towns are dead now because no one needs or wants to be in them.
Also... longer restock times means that mages and other characters can simply macro longer. Some mages already load up on 5000+ tapers, but they are heavy. Think about the same mages having 100 prismatic peas. They could go FOREVER without restocking.

Yeah I think macroing is the biggest thing against this. If ucmers had prismatic peas, they literally could spend a month or two straight in the holding or whatever before leaving.

How can turbine care so much about macro'ers to govern wheather they make changes or not.
If I learned anything about them, It's that there attitude towards macro'ing is: ignore it.
If they wanted to get them out of the holding or anywhere else, they would make much more drastic changes, fact is they don't care if your actually playing or not, they just need your credit card info.
Primatic peas or any other feature doesn't and really shouldn't consider the burdens cheaters bring to this game.

just as a question, do you think restocking means the same than populating a town? i think 90% of the players who need to restock portal in, sell, buy, portal out. thats not populating for me.

unfortunately, that is what it has come to. Players come into town, buy/sell what they need, then leave. I'm not saying that the ease of restocking has caused towns to become empty.. they've become pretty empty all by themselves (through the lack of ingame socialization and other things).
But certainly almost removing the need to come into town in WEEKS would cause towns to be more empty than they already are.
You can still go to some towns on Morningthaw and find people hanging out just talking.. sometimes you can even start up a new group and go out hunting or whatever.. But lately, the game has turned into what I feel is a bunch of people who don't want to play the game. They come into town, restock, then head back to their macro/grind spot and continue on until next restock.
I see this becoming more and more common, and I don't know about you, but I don't consider that a good thing for the game. Its removing the last thing in this game that made it really cool.... the community.

My social activity is at the monarchy mansion and on team fellows and quests.
If I play my mage or melee, makes no difference, I go to town, sell, buy, and leave. Prismatic peas will not change that. If they want more people to go to town, they need things that cause the need for trade. dah. In real life, I go to town for what, let me thinks about this? Need food, cloths, supplies, sometimes a movie. If nothing motivates these needs, I do not need to go to town.
You want people to go to towns, elimiante villas, cottages, mansions et al. Put chests all over the town you can rent. Have to go to town to store things. Have monarchy storage (higher level storage , like big). Craeate the need to be in the town.
Or, allow the making of things for trade and the generation of income in towns. Do not limit it to market place. Have people learn who is in what towns for what items. Allow specialization of trade skills for making and selling trade items, like elixers, sorry, the healers in towns need compation.. Create merchant stores, stalls toons can rent.
Lastly, the issue of peas. Not being able to carry peas limits my mage in ability to obtain and carry salvage and treasure. I only use my melee toon for hunting to obtain and gather salvage for my tinkering efforts. My mage can not carry enough because, has four focii using up pack space, overburdened cause carrying too may tapers. So my mage seldom hunts, have relagated him to mostly bot duties at mansion.
So what have we accomplished by not having prismatic taper peas? We limit use of mage for a number of activities. if this is turbines goal, than that is fine. I have lived with it this long, I can continue. It is what it is.
I would rather have the peas.

Because they care about the game?

There just isn't a need for prismatic peas. Prismatic peas, if readily available at a mage shop, would be ridiculous. Mages must be made to restock for both balance and role-playing dynamics. This game isn't just about convenience.
I think it's bad enough prismatics were added in the first place. Prismatics, and the implementation of the /fillcomps routine, lowered the difficulty of using magics by orders of magnitude. In a game where magics are an extremely beneficial characteristic, they should be difficult to use. They were the worst thing to happen to the game since SplitPea destroyed spell experimentation - and the devs acknowledged that by removing experimentation shortly after they added prismatic tapers.
I'd be all for it if Turbine added prismatics (single tapers) to the loot system. I see that as a viable way to address the problem that prismatic peas would be "solving."
And as far as increasing town populations goes, why Turbine hasn't created a banking system with a built-in automatic trade system is beyond me. Allow players to trade wares in towns and access house storage and bank storage in towns, and town population will rise slowly.

It would be abused to no end by ucm'ers. i GARENTEE IT, I made a melee char b/c he can macro far longer on the same bu as a mage.
:edit: we hate you garak go away.
