what you mean by the fact that cant get in game havent been able to and nothing is being fixed about it seems like a technical issue to me

yep having problems getting on and so forth.
that would be a technical issue.
but unfortunately your first post.
does not state the problem.
it's just a farewell note imho.
therefore you shouldn't have posted it here.
if all you want to do is say goodbye to turbine.
then i would suggest using the player feedback forum.

He has reached the place after tangling with migration, account, key issues that now he has a graphics problem. Most likely he needs DirectX 9.0c and driver updates. He is a novice when it comes to a computer. He gets told run dxdiag and goes do what??? So many people are having graphics problems, he is just getting ignored.

His frustration level is getting rather high. I have not seen the Turbine expansion CD but the downloadable graphics update is not designed for a novice.

Turbine did not bind anything into the package to deal with directX or driver problems. It has to be possible for installer to determine if your directX is out of date and upgrade it. Plus run a compatiability check on the device driver and card. It is not perfect but it would solve a number of the threads on these boards.

Every single one of your posts is like that. Why do you arrange your posts with one short, somewhat trivial sentence per line? Are you trying to be meaningful or something?

This was a major undertaking by Turbine. I think larger than they first imagined.

I have been as pissed off as everyone else, but at least we have the game, and it does work. Just need to calm down and work through the issues!

Eventually there will be answers to all our problems, but it will take time.

I only have two issues;

1) When in game there is extreme lag and I have turned off everything else!

2) Get a message the Asheron's Call Server is full - Please try again later! Find this hard to believe!

Must be some simple answer to both and I await with baited breath! :D

We have the game and it works? Excuse me... I pre-ordered three months ago from EB with "2nd Day Express" shipping. I still don't have my ToD.

I also entered my pre-order code several days ago. Even after these fixes, I still don't have any bonus gems on either account on any character.

Until you enter the Throne of Destiny expansion code you do not get any gems.
Preorder code + expansion code + Turbine fixes = health gem.
Expansion code + Turbine fixes = armor gem.

That still doesn't excuse not having the game after pre-ordering with "2nd Day Express" and it being four days after release.

because this is the way i type.
i've seen a few others whom do it.
yet you only point out me?
if you can't find something other to do.
besides pick on me.
then please keep your comments to yourself.

I'm not picking on anyone. Your typing style is frustrating to read. Why can't you just type in normal sentences like everyone else to get your point across more efficiently. If you're speaking this way, people are concentrating more on the way you're expressing things and not what you're actually expressing.

Oh well. Do what you want, no matter how pointlessly stupid it is.

this is usually where i would normally tell somebody to piss up a rope.
but your lack of reason is truly astonishing.
it would be insulting to me as a human being if i thought you had a clue.
i guess in the real world you have problems with people whom speak with accents.
there i used along sentence happy?

I have no problem with people who have accents. They were born in another country speaking exclusively to those who have the same accent while being brought up.

You simply choose to type in a different way to be unique. There's nothing wrong with setting yourself apart from others unless it's illogical and counterintuitive to efficiency - like your typing style. It's completely pointless, and it doesn't flow, so it makes it a very inefficient way to get across your message.

I love how you think it's necessary to say that someone's lacking reason because they're right and you're wrong and can't admit it. That's really quite absurd, actually... just like you and your typing style.

The CD is the same, it does not appear to check the DirectX version nor any system characteristics. Which when you mention that is odd, because almost every other game I have installed in the last several years not only checks that, but includes the latest DirectX redistributable right on the CD in case it's needed.

If Turbine had required only Windows XP Service Pack 2 that would not be an issue, since that includes the correct version of DirectX. But the retail box for ToD says simply Windows 98SE/2000/XP . . . which left them wide open to this flood of help requests. Not only that, but the box says they also require Hardware T & L, and there appears to be no check during setup for that either.

One of the other things being done by most of the competition nowadays during or right after Setup is a system analysis that checks your video and CPU speeds, then based on what it finds sets the games default graphics and sound configuration settings to what should be close to "playable." The user can override those if they wish, but at least they get into the game "out of the box" from the beginning with less trouble.

From my limited expereince, I believe it is. The issue then comes up if their graphics will go all screwy for everything because their card/video drivers didn't like DirectX9.

Perhaps they did bind the DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime into the CD image. I do not have my CD so I can not check. At least one, perhaps both of online installation packages is missing DirectX.

The big issue is that, Turbine does not test someone's PC. Throne of Destiny requires DirectX 9.0. The majority of game publishers and even Turbine for AC2 perform a test to make sure your PC can run the game. Correct me if I am wrong, but game publishers have been running video adapter, sound card, sound driver, video driver, directX tests and providing the DirectX runtime redistributables since the late 80's as part of the installation package.

Not every publisher does a real good job at it. Some only tell you go fetch this version directX or higher or that your video adapter failed the test.

Yup, some do a better job of it then others too.
