Hey all, I just bought Asherons Call today (It came with Throne of Destiny) anyways its installing and patching, I was wondering what is the best server to play on (non pvp) most active atleast. Im hoping to make a few new friends, and Im also hopping to make a Viamontian Axe Character. What is a good template for a new axe character? thanks, just trying to get some conversation going while I sit and wait for this to finish

hmm, you might like Dawnsong if you are new because it is a new server.

Axe is an unusual character type, I would recomend sword, bow or mage. However if you truley wish to play an axer try this

Specalize: Axe, Healing, Melee Defence

Train: Item, Mana Conversion

Attributes: Strength 100
Endurance 70
Coordination 100
Quickness 30 or 40 (depending on how many points you have left)
Focus/Self 10/10

Axe is a decent character type. I've found that if you're going to survive long term, I recommend the following

STR 100, END 40, COORD 100, QUICK 40, FOC 40, SELF 40

Spec: Axe, Creature Enchant (Allows you to buff yourself easier, thereby avoiding the buffbots. Also allows you to wield the Awakener later on which has Moderate Creature Enchant built in.)

Train: Item (weapons/armor buffs), Melee Defense (allows you to evade melee attacks) and Arcane Lore (allows you to wield magic items)

Later on (at level 7) train Mana Con, then Life Enchant and Missile Defense.

As a melee, your job is to get up close with mobs and beat them to a pulp. I use potions rather than relying on Healing to recover hp.

Firstly welcome to the land of Asheron's Call. Hope you enjoy your stay and have a good time.

For your stats, I would probably reccomend this for your Axer:

100 Str
20 End
100 Coord
20 Quick
70 Focus
20 Self

Skills I would say like this:

Spec

Axe
Melee D
Arcane Lore

Train

Item Magic
Healing
Creature magic (once you have enough to train)

Then later on you can pick up other skills like Mana C, Lifemagic, Lockpick etc.
Spec Arcane Lore is good for both early levels and later as many items have lore requirments on them. As well as you have the option to go item only later in the game if you choose, so it's really flexible in that regards.

Some of the other folks suggestions about starting with alot of Endurance is good, but you really won't need that much Endurance honestly. 20-30Endurance is plenty in my view. You'll want to be casting spells/protections/banes ASAP and if you start with 10 self/focus it will be much harder to be self sufficient with your own buffs. Again just my own personal view on this matter. The plus side to lot's of endurance is lots of health/stamina, but the downside is your going to be much weaker when it comes to spellcasting for yourself, and I like to keep things balanced out personally.

Server to play on, hmm that's a tough one. I'm on Solclaim myself and am part of The Knights Of Honor clan. We are a more mature group then some of the other clans out there and are always willing to help out if you need anything.

Sandman, you can't do 100/40/100/40/40/40 your only given 330 points to distrubute at startup. Your hitting 360 with the above, which can't be done as your over the limit by 30points. Nice try though ;)

Dawnsong is going to be an EU server. So aside from a language barrier, you're likely to see a lot of lag if you're hooking up from the states. (which is what EU players had to do prior to Dawnsong.)

Verdantine is a newer server too, on the US side of the pond.

Frostfell is the best server of course :D

We have various templates listed on the AC Warcry site. (http://ac.warcry.com/scripts/faq/faq.phtml?id=168&site=5) Feel free to take a look.

Obviosly we are all partial to the servers we play on. I would say just pick a server and start, then keep an eye on the various server boards and see if one strikes your fancy. This will give you the experience of playing for a bit and knowing what you are looking for before deciding on a more permenant home. As far as templates go, my suggestion would be to grab a premade template, non-mage, and play it up to at least level 20 or so to get the feel for game mechanics. After that, read up on some of the class boards on warcry (crossroads of dereth) and acvault.com and get an idea for what people are playing. Also keep in mind, most of these players have been playing a LONG time, and can get away with more extreme templates. Try something more moderate and, as time goes on, you can use quests to adjust your template to something that more fits your playstyle.

Lastly, if you chose to come play on Solclaim, look me up. My character names are Divinatrix, The Sullen Soldier and Cardinal the Blue. Feel free to add me to your friends list with the command /friends add <name> and send me a message if you see me on with the command /t <name>, <message>

You can also check out our clans website : www.lastdynasty.net

All in all, have fun. Take a look in the back of your manual that came with the game. The helpful websites that are listed there should get you a good jump on things :)

You have chosen wisely ;) Hope to see you in game soon. I play later at night, EST, though our guild has people active all day and night.
