My friend first got an error where, from Im told, said "Client Error" when he tried to get in a server. Later, he could get in the server, but when he entered the world he got the "UI loads but no world = time out" problem. Now when he tries to enter a world, the screen flickers and nothing happens.
I personally made sure there was no spy ware, viruses, updated drivers & DirectX. I can get on just fine. I read about router issues before and after the expansion, but unless I know what those issues are I cant exactly toy with the router, but thats not to say I havn't read that people say they have the same problems but have correctly configured routers. He is getting very frustrated since his free month is being eaten away by these problems we cant solve, and I'm really questioning the game and not his computer.

Try using this: link (http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm) .
You have to find out what router he has, and use the above to configure it. If it isn't the router, it won't hurt anything configuring it anyways ... unless you mess something up. :p

I wouldn't have a problem configuring the router, but his brother so tells us he has it "specially configured" or some thing (that, and its so ****y you pick it up and it screws up :D ) I'll check the site (thanks btw), but if any body has any other info on the subject it would be great. As the above poster, I do hear of people having this bug, configuring the routers, and either the problem fixed or its still there; so its not like its black & white, like all tech support. I havn't talked to him in a day or two, and I see him playing Guild Wars again so I hope he hasn't given up hope.
I am at work so I cant be 100% accurate but I will say what I remember :)
in my documents\asheron's call there is some settings ini file... gotta open that in notepad.... towards the middle of the file it will say a port... that port has to be open, and also 2 lines above it there is a true/false saying whether or not to use the port ... change this to true
that should work... its a very common problem

Ok, I found what you described. Under net, has the true/false and specified port. Just to clarify, is it supposed to be port 0? I cant try it out now since is midnight :D but fewer the problems when I get a chance to run over to my friend's place. Btw thanks much!
