Hi, all.
I played AC a very long time ago, and enjoyed it quite a bit. I particularly enjoyed the company of many good people. The community I found in AC was unlike anything I had seen before, and have yet to find it's equal, actually.
Though I enjoyed people's company, I often solo'd. In fact, about 90% of my adventuring was solo. I spent a lot of "downtime" chatting with people, learning the ropes, etc, but I took most of that knowledge out into the field on my own. I like the freedom to move around the map, stop for a bit, log in and out whenever I need to, and so on.
That style of gaming has stuck with me over the years, and I am curious if there is room for soloing in the current iteration of AC. I don't really have any interest in "end game" raid-style content, I mostly enjoy running around doing quests, and exploring new lands, hacking on things, growing my character, and collecting fancy new gear. I'm not a "power player" so leveling slowly isn't such a terrible thing to me.
I have found that, in other games, many of them have room for soloing at the very lowest levels, but once a character reaches ... say ... about 1/3 of the way to "the top" the options for soloing disappear. While I am not sold on the idea that I need to scratch and claw my way to "the top", I do want to be able to run a character into the mid-level game at least, playing casually for a year or more.
So my question for you is... can I do this AC? Should I be looking at AC2 instead? Is it too late for me to come back to AC? General thoughts?
I've tried all the others, and I miss the community, the story arcs, the massive lands, the incredible number of dungeons and quests, and the raw creativity that Turbine brings to their products.
Thanks for thoughtful comments.
