Hi, all.

I played AC a very long time ago, and enjoyed it quite a bit. I particularly enjoyed the company of many good people. The community I found in AC was unlike anything I had seen before, and have yet to find it's equal, actually.

Though I enjoyed people's company, I often solo'd. In fact, about 90% of my adventuring was solo. I spent a lot of "downtime" chatting with people, learning the ropes, etc, but I took most of that knowledge out into the field on my own. I like the freedom to move around the map, stop for a bit, log in and out whenever I need to, and so on.

That style of gaming has stuck with me over the years, and I am curious if there is room for soloing in the current iteration of AC. I don't really have any interest in "end game" raid-style content, I mostly enjoy running around doing quests, and exploring new lands, hacking on things, growing my character, and collecting fancy new gear. I'm not a "power player" so leveling slowly isn't such a terrible thing to me.

I have found that, in other games, many of them have room for soloing at the very lowest levels, but once a character reaches ... say ... about 1/3 of the way to "the top" the options for soloing disappear. While I am not sold on the idea that I need to scratch and claw my way to "the top", I do want to be able to run a character into the mid-level game at least, playing casually for a year or more.

So my question for you is... can I do this AC? Should I be looking at AC2 instead? Is it too late for me to come back to AC? General thoughts?

I've tried all the others, and I miss the community, the story arcs, the massive lands, the incredible number of dungeons and quests, and the raw creativity that Turbine brings to their products.

Thanks for thoughtful comments.

If you are asking "Can I Solo to the top?" yes, you can...

You can hunt alone or in groups (Fellowships), many (but not all) quests can be done solo... same for MOBs, most can be taken down Solo (If your skills are good enough) but some require groups...

I have not played a lot of the other games, but I do like the community feelings from most of my fellow AC Players.

My main character on Morningthaw is now level 152. I do quite a bit of solo exploring even now.

I solo all the time and enjoy the time I spend. I have never been about the leveling as you can tell by my character only being level 124. This is after 5 years of play and a few other characters too but over all I spend more time talking and helping out others. I prefer the community enviroment where people are helping each other and questing rather than single achievements. I do like to get certain things and when I get close to a level I will fellow in a good xp area but I don't spend endless hours there. Anyways if you are coming back to the game I say AC TOD is the way to go. And if you need any help starting out let me know. I am usually on Harvestgain doing something. We have a great group I belong to and everyone seems to have a good time. Hope to see you in game.

Sounds like a man after my heart :D

I have beeen playing on Solclaim for 4 yrs now and am only lvl 72. My favorite thing is to do a "Walk About" looking into every nook and cranny.

I have played AC2 during Beta and the first 2 months it went live. I loved the graphics but the game play isn't like AC1. A lot of AC2 is "Fellow" oreintated.

( thinks of standing atop a mountian range surveying the land below, wind blowing thru his hair, lol)

I love the experiance of picking a destination and running cross country, figuring how to get past high lvl spawn with out dieing :D

And no its never too late to come back to AC1. :D

( AC1, DM and Tod are all in the same package if you buy the expansion)

P.S. the Monarch of "The Order of Kayoss" are very diligent on doing quests
