View Full Version : It's amazing how Turbine can do nothing but jump between complete extremes

Every time Turbine sees an issue with something, they go from one extreme to the other to address it. They can never just gradually adjust things and find the happy medium.
Melee weeping nerf...
Xp chain nerf...
Melee d wands...
Vitae...
Raven's Fury...
There are a million more. It comes down to that in basically everything they do. I can't remember the last time they just made minor adjustments to something important. It's just stupid at this point, and it's the number one thing that is killing the game. How they can think they are near rational is beyond me. Lol just look at the server populations over a month after ToD has come out! I think this is it for AC.
This "Raven's Fury" issue is part of the NPK items imbalancing PVP.
Life Mages on the NPK worlds have asked for more offense for Life Magic for a long time.
Drain1/Harm6 used to be enough for the skill (in their mind's eye). Once that got nerfed and then Life Magic itself got nerfed they got the Hetacombs.
Some NPK players made Life Magic only temps and could level somewhat effectively.
With this addition (probably something that was asked for enough to be added) those Life Mages might be as effective as War Magic. Not because someone can manually do it,... plugins do it for you.
Where I am confused on this is that max life/max health guys are running around DT all over the place. It is not like the old days when they could say, "It will be years until people reach the highest levels,..."
A mage shooting one Raven's Fury at you has to stam to health then maybe a revit.
Why?
If he can one hit you then all he has to do is cast spells in a 3 round cycle.
If he hits you and you are low then a fast casted harm/streak/war (depending upon how low) can finish you off.
The other thing is that since they are at half health you might feel compelled to be aggressive and catch something up close.
Not like this is a game breaker, just a tedium creator since if you get one hit then the new vitae system causes pain.
Oh well :(

The developers continue to ruin this wonderful game. How hard can it possibly be for them to listen to the player base? Give the players what they want not what you (the developers) want. If you listen to the player base then you will see the player base grow. Stop being so obtuse.

Yes, I know, that's why I said that they are once again going from one extreme to the other with this spell. They had hecatombs, which became worthless, so their response is to go right from that to a new spell that can one hit ANYONE. That is just not logical.

I was one of those people who levelled a life-only mage on NPK worlds and asked for a little more power. I wrote the Martyr Mage guide still on the Magic Shop.
This isn't what I asked for.
The concept of losing more HP in favor of doing more damage, yes. Life rings, yes. Not combined, and certainly not to this extent.
The big damager I requested was a bolt, and a slow one at that. A nice, slow, lumbering bolt that otherwise behaved this way. 1/2 hp lost for double that in damage, basically your hp thrown at a target. But this would be something easily dodged in PK.
Rings would see 1/2 hp lost as well, but the damage would only be = hp lost not double. Certainly not enough to finish off anybody, except maybe on a lucky CB crit.
So no don't blame me and other NPK life mages. Life did need a boost. It was 45% as effective as War magic for 5/7 the cost. Meanwhile Dagger is 66.67% as effective as sword for 1/4 the cost. Life has plenty of additional utility and I would have considered it fair to be comparable to Spear and at least 60% the damage of War. That's balance, not this crap that Turbine has tossed DT.
And like it's been pointed out, Turbine will go to extremes. The Ultimate Singularity wand went from the best PK wand and dang awesome PvM wand to something not worth picking up in one patch. This spell will also get nerfed to oblivion, and worse the whole incident will be used to justify not giving effective and BALANCED boosts to Life magic.
This is why I don't play AC anymore.
