I have been off for about a year and a half now and was wondering if it is worth it (Play wise, Members online, updates) to return to AC. I have read most of recent thread and it seems that there is some questions being rasied about the long term future of AC. Turbine Has 2 Major DEvelop[ement games that are to be released Feb 2006, Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Lord of the Rings Online. With these 2 major games in there future is there a future for AC. BE WARNED ALL

Good to see another Okie. As for whether it is worth the time to return. I would have to say yes. Even if it is for only another year, the game itself is still just as addictive as it has been. Come back and give it a whirl.

I came back after a year. FOrgot a lot about the game so I started over on a new server. I am having fun. But VT don't seem to have a lot of players in the towns. They are playing but meet at their mansion I think.
There are also a few villas on VT.
Cottages are abundant too.
Things haven't changed much, but there is new stuff and hunting grounds have changed a bit....found it outn the hard way.
I came back because I wanted something to kill time at work.

I'm a little confused here. Turbine has released ToD and theres talk of shutting down? I just came back after 3 years and I have to say AC is a game well worth keeping alive.

I too have returned after a year away. Actually I have been an again off again player.
What have I learned while I was away? ...
That AC is the best game out there - nothing ever even came close to satisfying my gaming urges.
I am glad I am back!

No TOD is not shutting down. Don't you believe it.

Oklahomans (and some of us moved to Virginia...haha) should stick together and play AC1. If you ever are on Leafcull look for an Eyebright. Once we get everyone's computer up to TOD standards we hope to have more Eyebrights playing again. :)

Nothing is for ever, but AC is probably going strong as long as TURBINE has interest in it. The player base have many very adictive players, that over the years got older and (hopefully) wiser. If they haven't quit now, being ... eh ... oldish (saw that there is atleast one lady at the age of 73), they are never going to quit.
I have a strong feeling that the average age of the players have risen. You see it on the more mature posts here, you hear it on the speach and tells in game. What does this tells us? 1) in general the older public is playing games more 2) the higher the average age is the more long lasting the player base is.

Well I am NOT gonna buy ToD anytime soon. I want to be sure the game will last. I am an Asheron's Call 2 player and after I got screwed by buying the legions add-on and game shutting dowen...I am not buying any other add-on (got Ac1 untill Dark majesty) untill i am sure the game won't shutdown in the next 4 months like AC2 did :|
But will be playing the game for sure...just have to learn to live on Dereth before the cataclysm :D
