I just got my new computer. My old one is crashing when I try to load. (Hard crash, resets the computer.)

I have AC installed now. When I click next to on the loader, the screen clears and nothing happends. An ideas?

Don't be on the "bleeding edge" and expect things that weren't written for a Beta OS to work.

Why use the beta when you can get an official release from NewEgg? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16837102034)

Gets pretty good reviews too. When I get my 64 bit CPU then I'll move to it.

Fist,

You may want to wait on a reply from Turbine.

It does not state that WIN 64 is supported.

AC is most likely dealing with a whole bunch of 16 and 32 bit code and may have to be modified and compiled for 64 bit code.

I expect that most 32 bit applications will run fine in the 64 bit world but a game that really just started to work in Windows will have huge issues with 64 internals.

As someone mentioned, you are pushing the bleeding edge.

You may very well want to partition your system into 2 operating systems and run AC in XP and slowly migrate to 64.

Good luck.

Windows x64 (Windows XP 64-bit editon) hasn't been beta in a long time. Its well released and as stable as any MS product can be.

I know there has been serveral statements from Turbine that AC1 is not supported on Win x64, but for now I only found:

http://www.fuzeqna.com/asheronscall/consumer/kbdetail.asp?kbid=7&SearchType=advanced&referrer=&rfield=&usertype=&formaction=search&keyword=Windows+XP&match=and&catID1=&catID2=&sortmethod=rel+desc%2C+datemodified

As always "minimum ... or exceed ..." does NOT mean a totaly different operating system (as x64). In the business we by "exceed" mean e.g. more memory, better display card, support packs of the OS etc.

As the previous poster said, if using Win x64, then one must be prepared to sacrifice on certain things, because there is a lot of stuff out there that doesn't run on the 64-bit platform. Hardware and drivers, software, games, etc. Yes, a good idea to have a "backup" setup where you can run 32-bit Windows XP for your favorite stuff. Also note that Windows x64 don't even support all 64-bit processors, only certain of them.
