I use to play Asheron's Call back when it was on the zone. As a matter of fact it was the game i lost my MMORPG virginity to :P I know the magic system has changed. That instead of combining components together that you use scrolls now. My question, is the old research system in the game. Would you use the old system instead of the new scroll system for any reasons. And are there any benefits of using one over the other. I know this has to of been answered but can't find an exact answer. As soon as I find myself a box copy of the game I'm going to start playing my old love.

The research system does not exist any more... you have to learn the spells via scrolls.

Now, after you learn the spells you have the choice of using ht eold comp system or using the newer foci system... with the foci system all you need to cast a spell is the correct scarab and prismatic tapers. I assume you know the old system...

Only issue with the foci is that they take up a pack space but I am not sure how much that would change if you had to cary the components to the spells plus you don't have asmany burden issues just from comps.
