Install fails because it says it requires IE6.

Vista comes with IE 7. Your going to have to edit the registry and change the version number to IE 6.

No big surprise. Turbine officially supports Windows 98SE, 2000 and XP. Plus IE 6.0. Nothing else.
At some point they will have support IE 7.0 and Vista. No idea when that will be. It will probably around the time that Microsoft officially begins to sale the product.
This is always the problem that people that switch to a pre-release operating system run into. Very limited support from the companies that provide applications.

Just to add, IE7 just went public preview (not Windows Vista) and is due for release very soon. I myself just encountered this problem as my machines all run IE7 on Windows XP, and now AC wont install.
I would definitely recommend sorting this issue out, as advising regular users to use Regedit is definitely not on the Tech Support best practices ;)

I can see the IE 7.0 issue turning out to be a major hassle for Turbine. Back in 2005, Turbine's billing system and the installation package for Throne of Destiny were not tested with Vista and IE 7.0. So Turbine put a version check on IE in their software to prevent the use of the billing system or running the installation package.
The billing system is easy to fix. You just upgrade the server software and problem solved. The current billing system as of January 10th accepts IE 7.0. Whether the billing system has been fully tested and all features supposely work. I have no idea. The question been asked and no answer provided.
The installation software is a bigger problem. It is burned on the CD in the expansion pack boxes. Soon those CDs are going to start turning into coasters.
Turbine is going to have to solve the IE 7.0 problem very soon. Plus find a solution to the coaster problem. I doubt there is any installation package available on CD or for download that will work with IE 7.0. Regedit is your only choice.
While they are about it, Turbine needs to plan for the arrival of Vista.
