An allegiance member was kind of enough to help me obtain one of these shields, but we were unable to find any specifics on what it does. The description says "the aura generated by the shield will negate a portion of all magical projectile attacks, based upon the wielder's abilities."

Someone said that if your base magic defense is high enough, the shield will negate roughly 25% of all magic damage. So, I guess my question is, where does my magic defense base need to be to get this 25%.

Any other information regarding this shield would be greatly appreciated!

I believe that the spellcraft on an item is typically a good indicator of the skill needed to get full benefit. I'm not sure of the spellcraft on the Sanguinary Aegis, but the Raven Aegis shield (the same shield, but for level 100+), has a spellcraft of 350, so your buffed magic defense would need to be at least 350 to best utilize the shield's magic-resisting capabilities.

As indicated, the aegis shields don't offer any protection against physical attacks, but they can be of great value when you're fighting magic casters. The only dilemma lies in mixed mobs, or mobs that do both physical and magic damage.

I was told by a friend that I'd start seeing some results from the Aegis at about 300 magic def.

Besides that, it does a lot of good when in PvP fights. That's when you see the best of the aegis in action

buffed effect does nothing. it's only base.
at 319 base, spec magic d, 290 focus and self it reduces 25% of spell damage. with less base skill it reduces less
