Can anyone tell me the sum total of the changes that have been made to the loot system? Mainly need information about mage casters, are loot generated casters viable in PvP, i.e. better than weeping?

mages havent had any real changes if you can play a melee they kill everything and if you cant do that make sure you get al 680+ buffed armor or learn to jump spin while casting stam 1.

I am not sure when you unsubbed.
Last year sometime wands were added with a +% bonus for pvm and pvp to one element. pvp bonus is 1/4 of pvm bonus. pvm goes from 1-10% Green garnet salvage raises pvm 1%. Since the last changes these wands are useful compared to weeping.
I use a CB wand on ff. Average hits seem to be above 200, it is only +6 or so pvp% it's 2 points off max pvm(330 wield). I think it's better than a weeping for damage. Also having a mana c bonus helps a lot i think but I had quit pvping on my high level and was using a <126 so maybe my mana c just sucked.
CS i was not impressed with when I first used it on patch day. I haven't done any conslusive testing because it was that bad.
Top level armor is more important to have now, although I don't fight tons of melees.
If you did go for just a +8 or 9% weapon with low value you would have one made and tinkered in less than a day i think.

They added the spirit drinker spell that you can get like 5-6% pvp boost i believe, still not much.
They dont need much more damage, just need to **** with wards and make aegis a lower set % damnit!!!!!! arrrrrrrrrg im almost tired of saying that. IF they did that then balancing weapons would be sooooo much easier.

Yup, thats the problem. But if you do that than morons will come here screaming about being nerfed, so they just need to up the damage so we can avoid that nonsense. Before I left, I was hitting for as low as 108 with wars, which, considering how hard it is to hit decent people, is just sad. Crits I had were around 190-230. If damage is still in that range I am not coming back.

They need to implement the stiff finger policy (Rofls). That if they m ake a fix they dont listen to whining sons of *****es, but listen tot he more logical points of views backed with numbers and possibly even suggestions. If thye still want to make money off this game they should have a test server up likie they did ages ago and just use the stuff on there to test it out and get PLAYER FEEDBACK. Of course they would have ot give a list of changes (PLEASE dont worry about people finding out about the latest dungeon and all since they will 30 sec after patch anyway). But mainly focused on new items and such. POssibly red world? Make it yield more exp better loot and so on.
Turbine, this is OUR baby. Not yours. You only owned it for a short period of time, if you want it to thrive again do us well. Word of mouth spreads quicker than most internet banners. there wer people playing this game that had 5+ accounts. You want money? Do what the player bases want, decent job with the melee damage but you cant just expect that to be it, its an ever evolving world you must help it evolve for the better! and most importantly RED IS DIFFERENT FROM WHITE WORLDS, TREAT IT AS SO. Theres still so much more that can be done with thsi game...........for the better. If you tap into this games potential you can make so much more money. Oh ya, not to mention that thing called customer satisfaction!!

well, its a nerf with wards, you know how turbine is with nerfs. Thats how hard most people hit, 80-120. Wards are currently 10 and 15 (havent really seen any mods much) aegis is 25% cap with max magic d (rare but still some in there) but more extreme melees are coming out.
I say, make wards 5, 7, and 10% goin from minors to Majors.
Set aegis at either 10-15% either at a set point o rmake it magic d based again but not so much (i'd be happy with 10), people iwth magic d spec get a greater % taken away but doesnt make them pretty much invincible.
Thats goin to be around 15% increase in damage for mages if everyone has the majors and maxed magic d. (
you dont want to make wards useless but then again you don twant them too powerful. Aegis needs to have a set amount of % reduced yet at the same time dont make it too powerful, I believe 25% is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too powerful.
I really dont want to give an increase to magic damage since that could still throw things out of wack.
WE NEED A TEST SERVER FOR THIS, AT LEAST GIVE PLAYERS THE RIGHT TO TEST OUT IDEAS!!! rararar lol.

mage vs melee got a little bit better for mage damage. but melee damage got A LOT better. Melees who can barely dodge have a chance to win fights.

I dont have definate numbers. But coming from a person with no majors and a extreme melee with 200 base magic d wielding an aegis. I get hit for 200ish. But people with majors aegis and max magic d you get hit for 80-110 damage.

If I am hitting for 80-110, I am not coming back. That is asinine. Not to say that I don't think melee's should hit hard, but mage damage should reflect the fact that a hit is by no means guaranteed, hell that even getting the spell off in the first place is not guaranteed. If melee's are hitting for as high as mages, then the system sounds inherently unbalanced. 80-110 is pitifully low, even lower than it was when I played a year ago.
I agreed a long time ago that melees needed a power boost, but so did every class. If they just increased melees and left mage damage alone, it sounds like they did a poor job of balancing things. Mages should hit on the low end for aroun 150-175, crits above 270. I don't like the idea of tanking, and it sounds like now the main strategy of melees is simply to tank wars until the opponent dies.
Crap, at 80-110 that is 3-4 hits to kill a high level melee, all they have to do is heal and you won't ever kill them. The melees dieing in this situation must be pathetic.

on my guy with lower war(not max imbue) I hit someone warded(no aegis) for 256 on a crit with cb. of course crits are very rare with that though. It just seemed like CS was bugged and it's normal hits were weaker than CB normal hits from my very limited use.

CB hits are 256 without aegis? Dude that sucks. So basically, everyone got their damage raised except for mages, the loot casters for mages still suck in PvP. Man before I left I was hitting people through wards for over 300 with CB, I was hoping the damage increase would have made CS a viable alternative, but that can only happen if the damage is increased.

I get hit for about 130-180 with major wards and a 23% aegis reduction. Mage hits are really all over the place I could have a fight when I get hit for 160-180 or 130-150.
Weeping crits me for 200+ easy or 180-210+.
That is for max war mages.
I imagine that melees not lvl 200, with low aegis reduction or no major ward must have a hard time these days.

Frank, you want to do me a favor and go in game and have someone test out a max VS. players CS elemental wand against you (with the appropriate vuln of course)? I want to see where loot generated caster dmage vs. crits are at, and it sounds like you have a good temp to test it out on.

Very nice, PK looks to be in good shape. I already resubscribed, DLing the patch as we speak. Don't know when I'll get to play unfortunately, I have finals all day tomorrow, finals Friday, then I'm in San Francisco for the weekend for my bachelor party, then next week I am doing wedding stuff all week, get married next friday, then two days later I am in Australia until June. So I might get to play a couple hours here and there, but for the first time in years I am looking forward to playing AC.

If I fight a melee with aegis soon I'll put that up for the record, I might wait until I get a maxed out wand though and not a good one(difference should only be 1/2 a %)
the character had 360+ base war so I had max imbue effects.

I'd have to do a fair ward comparison(this was minor cold vs major pierce unfortunately) notice how CB average hits seem to be a lot higher, CS never hit over 200 noncrit. I'm not sure if the ward can fully explain that difference. shortly after the patch my friend was speculating that CS noncrits were weaker than CB noncrits regularly.

WB to u Siz , i think you'll find it pretty balanced and challenging now. Different world we play in tho. Probably take some getting use ta in group fights and ganks eh! --but hang in there , can only help matters by bringing in ole blood!

I'd have to check if anyone i could borrow is spec magic d or not. If I am pkling it is on waddy.
That's why crom was using war and not axe, ever since 115(155 now) the only xp that has been used to help pvping is about 8 points of health, 12 of war, and whatever mana c/stam/mana from raising attributes. The rest was melee d and loyalty. Horrible character to fight melees on since damage increases.

I was wrong, CS is not broken in anyway, unless proven by a larger sample. You will notice though that out of 10 wars CS only crit twice.

Id be really interested in seeing what a fully maxxed , majored mage with max wand , maxxed GG tinks can do for damage against -
A. Fully maxxed melee , special magic resis. , wards , aegis
B. fully maxxed melee , nonspecial magic resis with wards ,aegis and flip-flopped on and off ta compare the differences.

Id be really interested in seeing what a fully maxxed , majored mage with max wand , maxxed GG tinks can do for damage against -
A. Fully maxxed melee , special magic resis. , wards , aegis
B. fully maxxed melee , nonspecial magic resis with wards ,aegis and flip-flopped on and off ta compare the differences.
cez threw those wars, he is missing a few points of self and wasn't majored so variance wasn't as tight as possible. war is 360+ though and that matters the most.
same wands as above, no aegis, no wards.

the differences between different templates is usually 2-3% aegis http://ac.gamebaker.com/loot/magic-absorbing.htm every extreme change is about that much up or down. crom has 21% aegis

Just logged in for the first time in a year. Lost my villa, a 10x tinkered 430+ al suit, a major suit, various majors, 200 mmd's, 7 PDI's, and my mules are now spread all over dereth. Hehe, havin fun tho. Gotta rebuild, and that's good, because I have a goal to work towards.

Ya, there's that, I also o.O a little bit on quests, looks like I have a bit of new stuff to go through. We'll see, current Dev team appears to have a sense of focus, and a sense of how to run the game, so my hope is that there will be things to do even after I regain my wealth.

Well as i stated before id gladly let ya throw some wars my way just ta further test different set-ups. Im curious myself as testing post patch has been pretty much nill.
Your first few examples show pretty reasonable damage (CS turned in good performance with that nice 5 outta 8 and 3 outta 4) but id like ta see how much more reduction a maxxed warded , aegis melee can make. Looks like it can still be consistently curbed ta under 100 damage with 20-23% reduction???
Also testing between 18%-22/23% (aegis reduction) the 260 range as compared ta mid 290-300 range would be nice ta see. How big a difference would it make on crits? Add and subtract that in with wards , noticable difference?
Probably be as off the wall as the rest of the tests. Think Frank said it best in one of these threads- the variance between all weapons now just makes em to unpredictable. Especially war.
Well hell sure looks like equipment REALLY comes into play now. As it should i believe. Still looks like it takes a fair amount of skill too tho. A melee still has ta dodge against a good casting mage and mages sure as hell can't fall asleep!

Hmm just reread Franks post in this thread. If thats ta be true seems pretty reasonable. To many posts with data and not enuff info. I think many are leaving out key elements , accidentally or on purpose.
Guess ya don't know for sure until ya do the work yourself. Coincidentally its good ta see many mages offering unbiased opinions backed up with good homework without screaming shark tales! Ya knew there'd be some tho eh
