My favorite band is KoRn. Their not the greatest band but everything you listen to on the radio isn't too great either. I like how the band is unique and different from other bands.
Rob Zombie would probably come in at 2nd :p

Oh ...

When I was your age ... it was Metallica and GNR. As I got older my tastes changed though.

I still secretly rock out to the old school rock but these days I rather like classical ... esp movie soundtracks (see my post about movies). To me it's more powerful.

Back when I was 16, one of my favorite songs was "Orion" by Metallica. It has no lyrics and I what I loved was the instruments ability to take the place of words to convey emotion. That started my journey to my current musical tastes.

Right now: Jack Johnson

I can listen to Jack for hours. His music is so laid back...great for company or just chilling.

All time: Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Steve Miller Band, Doors, Zepplin, Jim Croce, James Taylor....

Yeah, I'm mostly caught up in the 60's and 70's. Something about that music that gets me in the right mood.

Opeth!!! My friend had me hooked on their CD Deliverance for a long time and in the end I had a hard time giving her the CD back :D. Great band!

If you liked Deliverence, give "Blackwater Park" and "Still Life" tries. I have all of their cds, so Im a little biased, but I love 'em all.

I like Korn too, but I think they aren't as good as their first 2 cds. Their first cd owns.

To Kid: White Zombie is far superior to Rob Zombie

To Gengis: Yes, Jack Johnson rocks. Good stuff. Always like to relax when it comes on on my way to/from work, tends to put a smile on my face.

I'd have to say my two favorite bands in general radio rotation (since I listen to the radio on my way to and from work) are Muse and Wolf Mother.

My current favorite artist who's not often on the radio is MC Lars, he's more punk rock than you, he says so.

Other favorite bands/artists:

Rancid
Death Cab for Cutie
Ozma
Weezer
Pixies
Placebo
Refreshments
Postal Service
REM
VNV Nation
Front Line Assembly
Merzbow
Franz Ferdinand
Dar Williams
Kill Hannah
Ben Folds Five
Gorillaz
Beck
Clash
Zutons
Belle and Sebastian
Strokes
Kasabian

and the list goes on... I like to think I have fairly diverse musical tastes. Sorry, I can't pick favorites :)

Deftones, KoRn, Pantera, Rage Against the Machine, Mudvane, *coughs* White Zombie pales in comparison to the man, Rob Zombie! Chevelle, Slayer, Audioslave, to many to list, but only geriatric music I like, AC/DC!

Music was ok. Nothing compared to Amy Lee though :D The girl in Lacuna Coil is hot though, ill give you that.

If you haven't noticed already, Evanescence is one of my favs. I like Muse, HIM, and some Manowar.

Lacuna Coil is kinda bad in concert but their music is awesome nonetheless.

H.I.M. - their lead singer makes them look bad...really bad. I will never drop 1 cent on H.I.M. music or merch because of the fact that the lead singer has no respect for their "elder" bands.

I saw Johnny Cash on this thread...and I agree. I have a thing for classic country. My grandpa bought an old Jukebox when we were growing up and we'd spend every summer at his house. We played the jukebox all day long, everyday. It helped he had a pool table and shuffleboard in the same room.

Some songs that I still love:

Boy named Sue
Battle of New Orleans
Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain
The Gambler
Big Bad John
Coward of the County
Tennessee Waltz
Your Cheatin' Heart
Seven Spanish Angels
I walk the line (When Chris Daughtry performed this on American Idol it was the best rendition I've ever heard. I still have that song in my head)
and many more.

I posted my other favorites on the first page. Anything from the 60's and 70's is pretty much good in my book. I did get into 80's rock some, but went away from music in the 90's. I started listening to talk radio and lost my sense for what was new. I couldn't name 5 bands that are hot today.

Desmond Decker, Skatalites, Specials.....anyone?

Ska...is that really music? I thought it was a behavior disorder that exhibited itself with fits of jumping and screaming in public places.

You said anything from the 60's or 70's was good in your book...well...thats when ska began and thats the ska I enjoy most. Maybe your thinking about some of the stuff that is mistakenly called ska today...who knows
