Ok,
I actually have 2 separate issues. I purchased Throne of Destiny yesterday, and tried to apply the 25 digit code they gave me on my reciept and the e-mail to my old account. It says that it's an invalid key.
But just the same, I installed, figuring I could still play with the stuff I had active from January of last year when I quit the last time.
Before I purchased, there was a warning to make sure that ports 9000-9013 were open and/or forwarded. Those ports work fine (I've tested them by connecting to a teamspeak server reconfigured each time for a port from 9000-9013). They said nothing about other ports.
Apparantly the launcher uses its own set of ports, which despite much searching of these forums and the knowledge base, I cannot find what they are. That's a problem since I'm on a campus network where you have to go through an approvals process to get ports open. While I'm sure I can get them open (although it will take some time), I can't figure out what they are... so I'm stuck.
Firstly, Turbine needs to also tell people to make sure they can get the launcher ports open before they purchase. Now I will lose 1-3 weeks of my trial time for buying ToD because it takes a while to get ports approved.
Secondly, Turbine needs to tell us what those ports ARE somewhere.
Thirdly, it would be nice if there was a way for us to set what port is used for the launcher, like there is for the client. I miss the old MSN zone days when it was just one single port the game used and you could SPECIFY it. Now it needs 14 ports (although you can supposedly edit your ini file to specify one... but you can only do this AFTER you've successfully launched the client and connected once... see the dilemma?) ... and it has to launch through a launcher that uses mystery ports.
So yeah, I'm a bit miffed, although really ... I should have known better. I always loved the game, hated the support.
