Lets say I create a free trial account, decide I like the game, and find a ToD-box for 5$ at best buy.

Can I use the key from the box for the free trial account?

No, I don't think so, because every key is unique. Buying the game will provide a new key which is to be used for a new account and not for the account / key you got from the free trial.

Nope. You can use the Best Buy key to create a second account.
