Hi, I used to play AC a few years back for a long time. Was my first MMORPG and its what got me stuck into these kind of games. After I made a new account I was going to try and play on my old server Wintersebb. I got past the Connected vial but the Updated kept freezing up every so much % and said "The Connection the server has been lost." Luckily it saved its progress and after a long time I got the whole thing updated. I got in, created a character and now I cant play because it freezes and says I lost connection like every few minutes. After it does this, I have to restart AC and try again to which it freezes again.
Now I have tried Port Forwarding, deleting the userpref. file, turning off firewalls and AV software, disabling and renabling the programs into the Windows security panel, and turning my routers DMZ o and all this to no luck at all.
I really would like to start playing again, and a free trial is a good way to learn it all over. But problems like this are keeping me away and wasting my trial down if I dont get it fixed fast. If anyone has any suggestions at all let me know!
Thanks in Advance

Hallo Spiron,
Sorry to hear about your troubles. It is hard to say what is wrong. Maybe you should lower your graphic settings in game or type in the chatbar /render radius 5.
It is very well possible that your graphic card can't handle the game.
Did you look for answers in the technical help section?

My video card cant possible be the problem.. I have a OCd GeForce 7600. And yes I have looked the FAQ many times to find out what was wrong and I have tried just about anything there is in there. I also saw that many others are having the same problem, back when I did play this game I had no problem what so ever to get into the game, of course that was when it used MSN Gaming Zone. Any other suggestions that I could try, has anyone figured out what is doing this yet?
Thanks in advance.
I really doubt it's a firewall issue but it's worth looking into. Firewalls sometime choke the connection to Asheron's Call.

Yea I thought of that and turned off all of my AV software and turned the SP2 firewall off and tried it.. then I put my comp into the DMZ on my router and still nothing. I can play for like 2 minutes then the connection dies, making me restart all over.

By port forwarding you mean that you made sure your router had the AC typical ports open?
I had something almost simliar happen upon reinstalling recently. AC would crash before actually logging in - not the same as what you're describing but you may want to update dirx just in case.
Have you done this too btw: http://forums.ac.turbinegames.com/showthread.php?t=32291 (not solution, but rather feedback)
Otherwise, it sounds like you've done all you can and either your ISP is the issue or something else in AC and how it connects (which I have no clue about as is probably obvious from this post). Anyway, good luck =/ I hope you've got it figured out, sorry to be of so little help.

I will try what you sent but yes my router has AC as a preset gateway already 9000-9013 UDP. I set that up before i had installed it and still no luck. If that dont work then I have no clue what I can do, my ISP is BenLomand if anyone has had this problem with this ISP and has been able to fix it.

What kind of service do you get from your ISP? A flavor of DSL? or something else? Are you using NAT or NATP? What make and model is your modem? What make and modem is your router?

I have DSL from BenLomand. I am using a NAT, modem is Netopia Cayman 3300, router is a Belkin F5D5231-4.

Has anyone had any luck with the info I have given? I still cant fix the problem at all and from the looks of it.. its not on the ISP side cause most others are using different ISPs and having the same problem. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.. A old vet player is losing hope :( .

I do not believe your Belkin router is capable is handling the protocol that AC uses.

This could be the problem but how do you explain everyone elses problem. They all dont have the same router I do, the only reason i believe this is because I didnt have the router when i played before. But that still dont make any since to me at all as to why a game this old could overcome a router.

Have you tried taking the router out of the mix and connecting directly though the modem?
Sounds like you have done a lot to eliminate the issue normally.

Well i tried to an extent. The computers I have in my house are set up for the router.. i did try to hook mine up to just the modem and it couldnt get a signal for some reason. It always said that I had a limited connection and I couldnt fix that for the life of me. Ill try again later to see if that works, if it does then it is something with the router.

Just a little update to my problem. I was able to log on for around 3 minutes before i got disconnected and in that time i hunted some.. then i checked my link status.. It started to go read again and there was a message on the Link status page that said. "Packet loss for the last 10secs: 100%." Does anyone here know what could have cause this. It said that if i dont receive any packets for a 40sec span that i would get booted from the server. So this is my problem and i have no clue on how to fix this.
