I have satellite internet, and i cant play the game. ive forward all the appropriate ports to my ip and ive made sure the proper files were allowed into my firewall. support told me that asherons call doesnt support satellite internet, but i swear i got in once. DOES ANYONE PLAY THIS GAME WITH SATELLITE INTERNET?

Satellite and time sensitive games do not mix. The time added by going up and back to the satellite twice will make the game essentially unplayable even if you manage to get past any technical hurdles of logging in. This is true of any MMORPG and FPS and anything not turn based. Dial up from anywhere on the face of the Earth would beat a satellite hookup so I don't think anyone is playing AC that way.

There are two issues that I know of:

1) This one has already been mentioned by JJC. The time delay because of distance involved in sending packets to a satellite makes for very poor performance for any real time internet application. Great for browsing, downloading, music, streaming video. Not good for games or VOIP.

2) The second problem is that a lot of satellite ISPs do not support asymmetrical UDP. In which case, you are not playing AC. Some like Hughes, it just depends on which local company is providing the service. The satellite folks are notorious for being unresponsive to customer requests. They know you do not have any other options. So it is usually their way or no internet at all.

You need to check with your local provider and see if they provide NAT (if they are giving you NAPT it will not work) and support asymmetrical UDP.
