View Full Version : Virindi Ninjas?

Judging by the latest lore article, does that sound a bit ridiculous to anyone else? The blade being constructed by the Virindi, due to the perfectness of the blade etc. Not to mention the smell of metallic substances on the wind, or the reptilian armor? I'll admit, it is an interesting twist, yet it seems bloody ridiculous.

This has to tie into Aerbax.
Question: Have we ever seen Aerbax before, anywhere? I was kind of shocked when I saw him in the two 'Turbine holiday cards', where he had tentacles... how'd a Virindi get tentacles, and why the emphasis on him?
At that point, I knew he'd be re-entering this story arc. Was just a bit interesting, though, to get your first glimpse of a Big Bad Guy when he's sending you a Valentine's Day card. ;)

I know it ties into Aerbax, but honestly...Virindi Ninjas? We might as well have Shadow Pirates!

Then you'll be pleased to know that in the coming months, we'll face an onslaught of the long-lost Pelagic sea nomads, once raiders of Aerlinthe island itself, who are now in the service of the Nameless One's lesser known sibling, the Kem-ARRR-oi...

So we have tanada that are either altered by the virindi or working for them. I don't understand the scaly textures comment.
"His clothes were a dark, shimmering blue instead of the normal black. Strange scaly textures covered the limbs of the Tanada's outfit..."
is that some hint at the tanada wearing virindi robe like armor? http://www.thejackcat.com/AC/Pets/virindi/vincadi.JPG

The reference to the virindi might just be a reference to their chorizite production. Perhaps the Tanada are developing hollow/phantom weapons.
I would like to see Aerbax and Ler Rhan take over this story arc though but if the Falatacot intro was any indication its more likely Nuhmie that is running the show. The only connection Aerbax has to the Falatacot is the Beast of Thirteen Eyes/Energy Source (whatever that really is).

they had them in AC2, and at least since then there have been hints that they have them in AC1. So, they've always had them, it was just a fact about them that was added much later.

But its a bit confusing, because rifts are virindi (and there were rifts in AC2 as well) and they are just a ball of portal magic energy and a floating mask. So it seems that the virindi can exist in an organic state or just energy.
and to add to all this, I've always had the feeling that the spawn of AC2 were somehow connected to virindi. The spawn share names with Slithis of AC1, so they are obviously related to slithis. But I've always found it odd how they have an eye in the center of their body with many tenticles. Reminds me a lot of the updated look of virindi in AC1

Then you need to read up on your Aerlinthe history (http://ac.warcry.com/lore/texts/index.php?action=display&id=1).

I never quite understood the manifestation of the tentacles in AC2. Whether the Virindi were able to take an organic form, or the tentacles were merely a form of controlled energy, I'm not sure. However, if they were to take a solid form and have limbs of flesh, I imagine they would look like a Slithis or a Spawn.
If they're pure energy, they don't need tentacles. The idea that they've been hiding something under their cloaks all along is a bit corny. Kind of a man behind the curtain thing. You open up the cloak and you see this little magical creature with tentacles and one eye.

If they didn't have tentacles then they couldn't interact with the physical world and objects like their sickles. They simply manifest into primitive physical forms in order to get business done.

Assuming that since their energy, and thus would have a innate control over it to a certain degree...they could use magnetics to manipulate their sickles...

from an old lore article, the virindi simply create the sickles from the air (or as they seemed to hint, the carbon in the air) since they can do pretty much whatever they want with planar magic, including float around, it shouldn't be hard for them to float the sickle where they wish.

RE 371: The forges begin to produce weapons designed by Lord Atlan of Knorr. Lord Loritane takes the finest axe, and has the Eaulinthe fixed upon its blade. With this weapon he joins the northern army at Planae.

I'm just wondering why Virindi and ninjas, or Virindi-controlled ninjas, have to do with the Aun at Timaru.
And what other Aluvians have gone missing, as referenced by the town criers.

Vici and myself have been looking for leads on that missing aun town crier quest. I turned in my cloth to the guard, he still has his and has been trying to give it to various npcs. off the top of my head, the ones he tried are:
Meshenq, Sayuji, Ookami, Shan Zhan, Hasin Lin, Ro Bi-Jor Apprentice Tailor, all NPCs in Timaru (except the guard), plus a few others.
We both agree that it seems like the logical first step in this quest is to give the cloth to the guard. And the description of the cloth is supposed to lead us to another item to bring back. He's just trying NPCs cause it can't hurt to try.
And we don't know for sure its related to the ninjas. It says in the item's description "You've no idea what it belongs to."

try some of the virindi npcs, vincadi, claude and his partner in crime, the one in Martine's retreat, just an idea.

True, but I think it would be one heck of a coincidence that this month's fiction makes a point of clothing ninjas in dark blue cloth :D

Anyone checked the Virindi presences on Marae? The Sing Weapons quest dungeon, and then the Scalpel dungeon?

Anyone checked the Virindi presences on Marae? The Sing Weapons quest dungeon, and then the Scalpel dungeon? If Virindi-Ninjas have anything to do with the disappearence of the Aun Crier then I doubt those dungeons have anything to do with it because the Virindi on Marae are loyalist to the Singularity or Martine; ie they don't support Aerbax.
However in my opinion it would be odd if the Virindi-Ninjas were somehow involved in capturing the Aun Crier. Raven Hand has already inhabited the isle for a long time so Aerbax/Ler Rhan could just "use" the order to do their dirty work for them; that is of course if the order is not fully under the control of Isin Dule.

me and vici checked the cultist's altar dungeon. No download time when we entered so nothing was changed. only thing I can think of now is they changed/added a new trophy drop to a monster inside the dungeon - that wouldnt cause a DL. But still, the cultists in there all wear olive green or black robes. The only blue is on the belts of the black robes. And those are only on a few of the cultists inside the dungeon.
if they wanted to hint at cultists it seems more likely they'd have used the olive green or black colors, not blue.

Judging by the latest lore article, does that sound a bit ridiculous to anyone else?Well it does seem to me a bit strange to me the Chaotic Virindi know as much as they do about the Isparians, like the Tanada Clan and Ben Ten (dating further back they knew of the Viamontians on Halaetan Islands [pre-ToD launch] preparing to make war against Elysa). Its as if an Isparian is actually passing information on to Aerbax/Ler Rhan. If so, I have a wild hunch it might be Nuhmudira.

I stumbled across this reference to Aerbax's tentacles, from the teaser for "Into the Darkness":
--------------
" A single claw reached over a shoulder and unfastened the mask; three tentacles stretched out to drag along the corridor of the newly constructed tunnel. A consul, independent entity Vincadi, made his way to where Aerbax stood. As Aerbax watched Vincadi in the tunnels, the mirror spoke to him from the energy source.
"Master Aerbax. Flesh being Nuhmudira has acquired the objective's locality. The tunnels of the flesh beings fill with a force set to invade our current position."
It requires more power to make the shift to the Singularity. Collect the specimen at any cost and fulfill your goal. You have progressed well. Do not allow a failure now.
"Our progress astounds even those who cannot comprehend our undertaking. See that the flesh beings are shackled. We will achieve our objective." The claw replaced the mask and the tentacles retreated beneath his tattered cloak. "I will bring forth the fleshless eyes. Vincadi, recruit the flesh beings to our cause and conduct your research, as well."
Vincadi's mask tilted slightly. "You believe that the meatbags will assist us?"
Is it wise to rely upon flawed beings to accomplish your work?
The questions came simultaneously and were parsed to different receptors. His answer came swiftly and without difficulty, "The 'meatbags' have proven ever predictable and reliable in assisting a cause they know nothing of. They will assist us, as they have before."
"Excellent."
Excellent."
--------------
And with Frelorn's peek at the new AC ad ... yup, looks like ol' Aerbax is our next Big Bad.

Nuhmudira likes to steal people. I'm sure she's the reason.

Seems Aerbax is back to altering the forms of humans again: Beginning with the Water Tanada Clan.
Your portion of the Directive is to assume control of the human Tanada assassins in the facility they call "House of Water". By some artifact of their abstracted devotion to the physical properties of liquid, they are more malleable to manipulation than their associates. Once the House of Water has been turned, we may be able to use them to bind the other Tanada more completely to our cause, at least in two cases. The fourth House may require total eradication, but that will not be your portion of the Directive. We anticipate your success with what may be described as "eagerness" for a more complete conjunction between our goals and the blades of the Tanada. We warn you that the humans, especially those devoted to an entity known as "Ben Ten", will strive to disrupt your plans with their customary crudeness. Prepare your assassins to repulse the inevitable assault.

If one looks at the lore of the virindi themselves i think i have formulated a hypothesis and link between the Energy version of virindi and the fleshy virindi in AC vs AC2. If one looks at the lore, Virindi are speculated to be from the void of portal space itself. Now my theory is that Virindi while in their home realm (Portal Space) have the fleshy tentacles in which lore has placed. The virindi when they come into Derethian Physical realms loose their physical mass and become beings of pure energy. This in turn keeps them from the possibility of getting permadently destroyed because energy is niether created nor destroyed. So when Virindi are killed in Dereth / Auberean they return to portal space and can come again when they've gathered enough strength.
Now im no expert on lore, but this could be one potential reason behind the tentacle / energy versions of virindi.

I think Django mentioned something about battling in portalspace
