"Go now, my Puppet. Sow my seeds of chaos throughout the land. The tempest must rise and strike before I bring the calm. Go." His scythe pointed outward to the light marking the exit of the cave."
- Aerbax before he took the name Aerbax and was just called the Overseer

With Aerbax shaping up to be a or the Big Bad of the next arc I thought it would be nice to reflect on my favorite villain in the AC universe. From his first appearance in the lore above he always seemed like an awesome villian. More like a bond villain than the raging forces of absolute destruction that Grael, BZ, the Olthoi Queen, or the Burun Kings were. Of course BZ that so much cool back story and interesting side characters (like Isin Dule) behind him that he could afford to be that way. Maybe that's why I rank the Fourth Sending (BZ/shadow generals) and Elements of Revenge (Gaerlan/Martine) as the best arcs because they had the most interesting Big Bads. The other arcs had some interesting side villains like Torgluuk/Morgluuk, Dardante, and Nuhmie but a real Big Bad is irreplaceable.
Aerbax never even had a back story of his character but the first impression from The Meeting was just awesome. Of course then nothing was done with him for like 2 years. Although he did get the name Aerbax when he worked with the rebels a bit during the New Singularity arc but that's about it. I remember back in the glory days of CoD's Hall of Lore when we put it together that the Overseer was Aerbax.
Aerbax's little note:

"I searched far and wide for the Overseer that made me what I am. To thank him, of course. Nothing. Did he perish as a result of his machinations? Or later, during the Directive War? He did not seem to be one who would have let my own plans go unchallenged, especially coming from a former minion of his. I still amuse myself by imagining our next meeting, even if it will only ever happen in my dreams."

Also The Hall of the Tusker King lore recounts Aerbax's return after the New Singularity arc:

I remember being very happy to find that the devs didn't forget about Aerbax and he was still in prime villain form. He also made the Valley of Death sometime in there by creating uber creatures with his "Energy Source". His experiments were recounted through lore notes and as part of the monthly teasers back when they used to be separated in several parts each about different characters. I seriously thought he was going to be the Big Bad instead of the Olthoi Queen or Burun.

Next time we see him he has teamed up with Ler Rhan (a great/creepy supporting villian) and has been called into the darkness like BZ was and that was the last we heard of him basically.
Aerbax/Ler Rhan's Reawakening Installment from when Turbine bought AC from Microsoft:

Basically Aerbax is one of the biggest characters in AC and certainly one of the coolest. Grael kind of appeared out of no where but Aerbax is an integral part of AC lore. I hope the devs give him a great arc. Unless of course he is not the big bad and this is just another bait and switch like every other time Aerbax popped up in the beginning of an arc...
