I know, everyone in here's got something wrong with their router and ports and everything. But I've been looking through the first two pages of topics in here, checked all of the UDP ports, my firewalls, closed my virus protection, etc. And I can't get into the log-in portal. I can select my character and click Enter, but I just get sent to the UI screen with a black window.
The funny thing is, I finally got in after adding in the 900_ UDP port numbers and turning off my virus protection [not really sure which did it] and after I made my level 1 and got them through the beginner dungeon, I got disconnected when taking the portal outside to Rithwic. Ever since that disconnect, I've been stuck out all over again. It feels as if I didn't get in for that little half an hour at all.
I've got Windows XP, running the game as "Windows 98", all my drivers are updated, the UDP port numbers are inserted, and my AVG virus protection is off. Why is it that I finally got in for a little bit, DCed, and can't get back in?
Hope I gave all of the needed information in this long story and somebody can help me out. [Yula? :)]

What you need to do is extend your routers public IP to your computer you are playing the game with. This allows your computer to bypass any router settings and connect to the internet directly. With a linksys and belkin router i think it under advanced options > public ip. If you are running a microsoft or cisco router, its called Virtual DMZ

I don't have a router; my DSL chord goes from the wall into my computer. But I heard around here some modems can "act" like a router?
The only things I know of that might be blocking me from re-connecting are Zone Alarm [which is set to allowing absolutely everything-AC] and Windows Firewall, which is set to off, but I never can trust the thing.
I just find it so weird that I got in on my 3rd or 4th try, and can't get back again. Tried deleting the User Preferences too, after finally logging in the first time to create the file, and that didn't help either.

Yes, your DSL modem does act like a router. Heres what you need to do:
1. Click on start menu and choose run
2. type in CMD and hit run
3. type in IPCONFIG and hit enter
4. write down the IP address to the GATEWAY
5. connect to that IP directly via your internet browser
6. PW for the router should be given or its usually default "admin"
7. Look for port forwarding options and forward the UDP ports AC needs
8. If that doesnt work, try disabling the routing option of your modem and enabling a public IP address for your comp.
9. If that doesnt work im sorry man.

Sorry I haven't checked in a few days. The rush of getting back in AC is waning after these connection problems. :P
After using ipconfig I got the Gateway address, but can't use it in any web browser. I get told that the page cannot load, I've tried the same thing with my IP address hoping that might bring something up. Is there another problem blocking me from using the Gateway address to fix this problem?

Well i just had fun with a DSL connection the other day. Unfortunately i could not get the DSL router/modem to give the computer a public IP but i was able to port forward so that should take care of it.
If you cant get into your DSL modem using the gateway address your are SOL. Id call your DSL provider and ask for instruction on how to port forward the DSL modem to the UDP ports AC required to be forward.

I uninstalled ac to reinstall it as I am having a lot of connect problems myself, and when put the disc in to reinstall the game it did not start up? How do I get the game reinstalled?
