View Full Version : Losing connection after a short while in-game

I recently reopened my account after moving/getting new internet subscription, but now I'm having massive connection issues. I can connect fine to AC and get in-game working fine for a few moments until connection drops out completely, usually it's triggered by me getting out of portal space. I have no issues with the connection otherwise, so it's not a general problem.
I'm running Win XP, freshly installed and fully updated with Bullguard Antivirus/Firewall which is set to allow AC. I'm using a NETGEAR WGR614v6 router with the wireless functions disabled and ports opened for AC (9000-9013 UDP). It also has the latest firmware.
Hope someone has input on this situation - I hope it's not the router, because switching it/bypassing it is not an option.

The problem is that most netgear routers do not understand the networking protocol that AC uses. That means the can not route that packets correctly.
What you are going to need to do is get your hands on a router with better capability into the firmware. Many of the linksys routers will work fine.

i got the same problem as him pretty much. i can log in.. but if i use portals or something i get stuck in P space and go link dead......
or sometimes when im just standing there it ill log me out and go link dead..
so are you sure its the router? and is there any way to get around this problem without buying a new one?

But surely there must be a solution other than purchasing another router?
Where are the Turbine employees, I thought they made this forum so that they could actually support their customers. It's hard for me to even find out IF my router works with AC or not, as their support database is so poorly updated. What kind of a customer service is that? It's just not ok to happily accept money for a product that's not available to all buyers without telling the ones missing out that they're not going to recieve what they've paid for. My router isn't even a cheap discount one, and it works perfectly in any other aspect of use than AC. Turbine, if your games' tech is outdated, let it be known please.
I've cancelled my account again, and if it runs out of subscription before theres a fix or at least an official message, it'll just not going to be reactivated.

This forum is used by players to help players. Official support is only available via email or live chat. Once in a blue moon a Turbine employee will show up with the following advice:
1) See the sticky at the top
2) Read the Faqs
3) Use email support
4) Use live chat.

I'm having similiar issues, and am using a D-Link router....
I recently started up my account, and can't stay logged in for more than 2 minutes, tops... When I get disconnected, it causes my entire internet connection to go dead as well, and force a complete reboot of the entire system. I'm using a Sprint Microwave Broadband connection too, which I used for 4+ years while playing AC previously...
I emailed support and they said that they don't support any form of Microwave Internet connection.... yet It's the same exact setup that I used to use previously...
