I can honestly say that I never walked out of a movie thinking so badly of the director/direction and the final product until today.

I actually had to tell the wife that were I younger I would attempt to get into directing just to re-make this movie !

It is by far the worst of all the movies so far.

I feel it had NO character development at all, you just do not get any feel of any of the characters in the movie and what they might be feeling ( even Harry ) nor you do you feel much like/dislike for any of the characters, the ones on the side of good or evil. The characters were a non-event for me.
What few times the director tried to show us what a char was thinking/feeling it felt too much like an episode of Eastenders or some other British soap opera, in other words, trite and contrived.

If you read the book, you wil know that this was a break-out book for many side characters in the general story line, none of which was covered at all in any significant way. Not Snipe, not Hagrid, not any of the chars in the Order, not Nevill, not Luna, not Cho, nothing, no way no how.

Also, none of the plot-lines was covered ( discovered, let develop ) in any significant way at all, excepting Delores Umbridge character line, and even this was dumbed down, she was played out as sorta dumb, loyalty to The Ministry being her only fault, when she should have been played and let known to be more evil and dark-hearted than the movie did it.

I realize they had to make "sacrifices" to make the movie in the allotted time, but it should never have been made as a "stand-alone" movie. The producers should have just made the decision that the people attending HAVE seen the other ones.

I predict this movie will make the least money of all the Potter movies to date, and it has damaged the franchise.

This movie should be re-made with different director and different length decisions made, maybe even an intermission. This movie COULD have been EPIC and awesome, but the way it is now, it is just blech.
It rates a C- at best.

Agreed, about the only thing that is going to keep this HP installment afloat would be the loyalty factor from the HP fans, (such as myself), this one was a soft let down. But I have to add, if you want to see a kick butt movie this summer, Transformers 4TW!!! A must see. No disapointment with this one. <3 Bumblebee.

Here is a link to a petition being started to keep this director from making any more of the Harry Potter films, if anyone is interested:

You'll have to cut and paste it into your browser.

Delete this post if such a thing is not allowed please.

Wow...I couldn't agree more. I thought the movie was, by far, the best in the series. Granted it's been awhile since I've read the 5th book.

Deathly Hallows was an excellent read, and she left it open with a few new characters, if she ever wants to cash in with that story line, best book in the series.

They are not going to remake the movie. Best you could possibly hoep for is for them not to screw up the 6th and 7th movies. But good luck with that.
Law of Movies about Books: ALWAYS read the book. And if you have a bad day and you want to vent on something, go see a movie of a book you have recently red. You will not be dissappointed in expecting a complete pile of tusker turds.
