View Full Version : 2 Ideas for PvP on Darktide

#1: How about group all the housing (cottages, villas, possibly apartments) into one giant city and drop the barriers, it could be quite the happening place. Imagine a real city with REAL people in it. Also replace the writ with a house key. Make it so your house can be locked, and only those with a max lockpick skill could pick the door to get in. Could be interesting...

#2: Bring deception back. If deceptions is high enough your blip would not be visible on radar. This would be huge and easy to implement. Imagine being able to use the environment to ambush or sneek around in. This would add a whole new element to the game. Assess person would be a good counter for deception. Monster could also use deception to disappear from radar like they use to in the old days.

I am imagining...and its bad, grouping all the houses around exsisting towns would still be neat, at least the towns would feel like real towns, and spreading them around might cut the lag to a playable lvl.

It might work if turbine wasn't running DT off a SNES :p

^^ LOL!

So true man, so true.

Regarding OP, I thought that's what deception did when I started playing AC in 1999, and was shocked to find out that it did, well, nothing. I also thought that assess person would be used to counter this, and was shocked to find out that it did, well, nothing. And I thought Turbine might actually do something to make the useless skills better, and was not schocked to find out that they did, well, nothing.

But AC lives on, and is still the best MMOG choice on the market by far.

Not only would this cause tons of lag, but moving that many houses knowing what we know about the housing code and set up would be... interesting and probably not worth the large amounts of player aggravation it would cause.

We can't do this. The client currently receives information about nearby entities and those are shown on the radar. We could change the client to not show certain blips, but it would be possible to write a plugin to show it anyway. Potential plugins that negate this type of functionality have actually been one big reason that our brainstorms about deception have been set aside.

Its a shame, it really is. Both ideas are great ideas (I'd say, it would be even better to have towns with housing built into them, i.e., Qalaba'r and Cragstone being cities, not just towns. Deception would be great, its a shame that Deception can be overwritten. Is there a way to at least make deception lower the aggro of monsters?

Some things that might make deception more interesting without having to change existing world object information:
1. Deception adding a bonus to innate resistance for all attack types because other players and mobs have a difficult time understand what to attack you with and where to hit you they can't hurt you as much.
2. Deception decreasing crit chance against you because players and mobs not knowing where to attack you effectively.
3. Deception allowing you to buy and sell at a better rate because your deception makes you better at haggling and selling.
4. Deception allowing you to wear items that have racial requirements that are not of your race because you can deceive the items into thinking you're another race.

how can you decieve inanimate objects?

How can I jump 30 feet into the air?

How can I cast fire balls?

How can I come back to life after death?

A: It's magic. ;)

I think those are all good ideas, Rim. I hope this goes through.

I suggested a while back that they only have 1 LS for 1 month.

Right in the middle of the map.

Throw a few more clustered servers at it and have fun.

It would be like old time real quick with one ls!!!

Rim gets a vote from me too. It would be nice to see less useless skills in the game =)

Finally, a use for all my Deception rares!

Deception is easy to fix.

Right now it attempts to block players from being able to see information on you.

Expand that.

1) Blocks you off of their radar with a successful RnG.
2) Unselects you on a successful RnG.
3) Stops sending data to their client about you, you appear to be standing there (RnG again) until you either attack or leave radar.
4) Makes you appear as some random other player or nearby monsters (RnG).
5) Ability to pass housing barriers (RnG).
6) Etc.

Basically, expand out the blokcing of information that is sent to your opponet(s) client.

The countermeasure would be Assess Person of course.

This would mean taking that away from Aluvians as a racial and giving them Item Tink or spec Salvaging.
