I updated the launcher and selected my server and a black screen pops up and nothing happens, no update screen or anything... game was working fine yesterday...any ideas?

Double-check your ports and connections. You may have some issues involving your connection via your UserSpecificPort, which is located in the UserPreferences.ini file, in your My Documents>Asheron's Call folder.
You want to make sure that if you are connecting through a router, you set your specified port to a port number you're forwarding. The ports you need to forward are 9002-9014UDP.
Try again if you are sure your ports are set up correctly, any more information would help.

All that kinda confused me...But I'm not on a router...what information do you need?
Well,
Describe to me exactly what you're seeing, or aren't seeing. When the black screen appears, after waiting a minute or two for it to establish itself, it remains black?
I think that might be the AC Client window not displaying or loading properly. You can try using ALT+Enter to drop it down to windowed mode, which may fix a display problem.
Really, I need you to outline step-by-step what you see up until the problem.

Alright, I go through the whole launcher process, click my world, click the button that opens the window, AC window opens, I see nothing but a black screen, and the AC style mouse pointer...it doesnt correct itself, cant alt-tab or anything I have to restart the computer to get out of it.
You shouldn't have to restart your computer. You should be able to end task it (CTRL+Alt+Del>Click ACClient.exe under Processes>End Task). Did you try the Alt+Enter? How long are you waiting until you are restarting?

I tried alt+enter, nothing happened, still a black screen.
When I press ctrl+alt+delete, nothing happens, I still have the black screen.
last time i waited around 3 minutes and nothing happened..
Wow, interesting. You didn't make any major hardware or software changes to your machine before the patch?

Nope. Everything in the computer is the same, granted its a POS computer...think that might have something to do with it?
What version of windows are you running? XP Pro?

I have no idea man. You said you rebooted, yes? Still does it? Are you sure all your windows firewall information is up to date? A quick way to check that is to disable the firewall and attempt to connect. If you can, and still want the firewall enabled, you'll have to add AC Client to the permissions list.
Do you know how to disable the firewall?

Yeah ive restarted around 5 times, and ill try to disable the fire wall then see wat happens

I turned off my Mccaffe firewall and it works now, which is strange since i completely closed mcaffe earlier and it didnt work...oh well im happy as long is its working

Many firewalls will require you to remove and re-add games to their exeption list when the games update. Some how the firewalls see the updated game as a new program. You might even have to remove Ac and the launcher from your firwall and actually have to reboot then re-add the game.
ps. This is a common issue with some firewalls when updating games.
