These cards are known for not working properly with ACDM. Just ask Ibn :)

Upon logging into ACDM the sounds are good, but after about 1-3 minutes they gradually stop playing until there's nothing at all. There's no distortion or crackling, just the number of sounds decreases until there's only silence.

One workaround I've found when talking to other players is to use the DirectX diagnostic tool and disable hardware acceleration. I don't know much about the nuts and bolts of sound issues, but wouldn't software emulation cause the CPU to handle alot of the work of the sound processor?

In short, I'd rather not change settings that affect most of my games.

I realize this may be a manufacturer/DirectX issue- Turtle Beach hasn't updated their drivers in a long while. It's a minor issue *IF* you know about the workaround- I bet there are other players with this card that have no idea what the problem is and just turn on Winamp.

Thanks for any attention you can give this.

I used to have the same problem with games using my Vortex II card - which is the same chip used in your sound card.

Once Aureal went outa business there wern't any drivers with support for dx past dx 7 that I could find. That was like 2-3 years ago. At the time AC seemed to work ok - It couldn't handle Winamp and AC at the same time however. So I picked up a SB Audigy after much debating, and I had no troubles after that. I think it may have just been that the sound card couldn't handle more than like 8 sound channels at a time. I never bothered doing too much reasearch on the card/issue once I found out the company went out of business - I just figured that would be a good sign for it to be time to upgrade.

This is a good site with some info about the Vortex II chip and the cards that were based off it.
