HI There,
For some reason I have been experiancing some
really slow connectivity with the patch update once you get into
the game after loading in.. Im trying to run the trial and once u
login and do those little mini updates, there is a 180,000k or so
update/patch that u need to do once in the game before
character creation. During this update I seem to only get 5kb/s.
6 Max... I dont know why.. I've left it running all night and I just
came on and its only 71% done. I have a cable broadband
connection and I live in Canada. Im just over NYC so its not the
fact that me living in Canook land has to do with anything.. :p
But this is very stressful and I do have all my ports open
and I have tried updating on different servers but nothing seems
to do the trick...
Please Help
Thanks In-Advance

Are you behind any firewall/router? If so, the bandwidth limited for the port could be cut down to very little.
I know a few people that can't play AC because ports 9000-9???? are either blocked or limited to sub 56k speeds.

If I were to overide those ports using the config tool that runs before the game is started to for example port 80.
Would the process work or would it give me the same problem?
Do I have to contact my internet provider on these matters.?

Don't believe that will work.
Do you have an routers setup or just direct connection to the internet?

I have a router...
I have all my ports open but I dont see any limitizer or
anywhere that will limit the transfer rate for the ports..
I have also tried using a direct connection without the router
but yet again I run with the same problem...?

Keep the router out of the situation for now - the less possible problems the better until you figure out what it is.
Use the ports scans below to check if any of the ports being used are still getting blocked. I know some ISPs will block/limit certain ports for security reasons. Might worth a call to the ISP.
Specific Port Scan
http://www.speedguide.net/networktools.php
Broad Port Scan.

Besides the 9000-9 ports, you may also want to check the ports listed below to make sure they're open.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;240429
You may also want to make sure absolutly nothing else is running in processes besides the basic 14-15 microsoft processes.
Lsass
smss
csrss
services
svchost (4-5x)
winlogon
system
system idle process
explorer
spoolsv

(of course I was assuming your using 2k/XP.)

Conclusion: Possible Problem! We did get information from scanning your ports, this information could encourage attackers to probe further. Do you know why you are advertising these services to the net? perhaps installation of a firewall, or reconfiguration of your firewall to be more secure, would provide peace of mind.

With the speedguide link... Its tells me that they are closed..
but even when I tested port 80 it tells me the same thing...
I am however able to get all the other info like whois, ping, dns
etc..
I have about 8 processes running in the background.
I've tweaked my computer enough on that aspect.

Hmm... Your computer's IP shows up correctly in the speedguide test, yes? Sometimes that thing messes up and ya gotta correct it.
Might try a trace route to see if your getting stuck somewhere.
